Should be in, but counting stats could give him a hard time getting in. No question he was one of the best hitters of my lifetime.

I just looked up his career stats. He was better than I thought. I vote Yes.

Only five players have a higher wRC+ than Votto since he came up to the majors. Judge, Trout, Alvarez, Soto and Ohtani. Keep in mind four of those guys have less than half the PA Votto does over that span. Wouldn't shock me if all five of those guys end up in Cooperstown anyway.

And looking at his best years (09-17), the only hitter with a better wRC+ is Trout.

Votto was a consistent producer who flew under the radar most years. Nothing fancy or flashy, just got the job done.

Probably won't be a first ballot HOF'er.

Here's a good story story by USA Today on his stats.

Yeah I don't agree with Dusty Baker about RBIs being better than On Base Percentage. Getting on base over 40 % while still having some pop makes everyone around you better.

Then again, Dusty has been in baseball for 75 years and I'm jockeying a keyboard with random comments, so there's that......

You can't get the RBI count up without a healthy team OBP.

I was glad when the Red's showed Dusty the door.

Votto led the league in OBP 7 times in a 9 year period. That's pretty impressive. And one of the years where he didn't lead it his OBP was .459.

I feel like Edgar was a very similar hitter to Votto

That seems like a good comp. I was thinking Bobby Abreu but Votto was probably a little better hitter and not as much of a baserunner as Abreu.

I vote yes... but there is a lot going against him...
Not in order
1. he is a first baseman
2. Played for the reds
3. very little playoff experience and even less playoff success
4. best offensive attribute is getting on base and mostly by walks
5. Not a special power hitter- Career 354 HRs seems very low for a first baseman
