Will be interesting to see who starts at quarterback a week from Sunday. I'll withhold my pick in this game until I have that information

Mullens should start. He earned it this week

I dunno about that. I get that Mullens put up some good numbers and all, but it's pretty clear the Raiders quit last night. When the worst team in the NFL quits....I'm pretty sure I can put up 300 yards and 3 TD strikes. I personally don't care either way, Mullens or Beathard....I think both are backup material at best.

The Raiders stunk last night but Mullens still made plays regardless and deserves another start to see if he succeed against better competition. It isn't like Beathard was doing anything lately other than turning the ball over

Like I said, I don't care who starts....I just don't think he 'deserves' it.

One of the local sorts talk radio guys( Lorenzo Neal) called the NYG the Raiders of the east
Seemed like he was referring to the disfunction of the teams and the effect with the on the field product

On the surface, it's probably very accurate to say that. Not that it's an excuse but, there was no selling off of the Giants top players for those remaining to simply give up. There hasn't been any vocal leadership in that lockerroom...someone to pull a guy like OBJ aside and kick his ass....and Eli's decline may be in full view now.

Agreed. But the Giants will be prepared for him. They won't be shocked like the Raiders were. I'm not expecting anything like Thursday but if he simply doesn't turn the ball over he'll be an improvement over Beathard.

That's the key. We need to see what we've got or don't got in Mullens.

They have some weapons on offense; the big problem with the Giants is the offensive line. They are really bad. Similar to the Raiders in that regard.

Thats good. This is an audition for the backup job. It will a little better test this week and there will be tougher games on the schedule coming up. At the very least it creates a little more interest in the game than seeing Beathard out there

Like the HC says, the one who gives us the best chance to win. ie how all the players and coaches feel, makes a big difference. Not that its one or the other, but there must be "pulse of the team" that only Coaches can discern.

No big surprise I suppose, but its Mullens.....

""Mullens will have an opportunity to keep it rolling in another prime-time game. Shanahan informed him Tuesday that he will remain in the starting lineup Monday night against the New York Giants.""

For sure. As someone said earlier, its an audition for the backup job once Garopollo gets back and we've already seen what Beathard has to offer.

So now that I know who the QB for the 49ers will be I'll give my prediction. Here it is:

Home field decides it.

49ers - 30
Giants - 23

I'm concerned about the two big boys on the Giants offense but I'm confident the 49ers can rattle Manning with pressure because their O Line is so bad. Hopefully Saleh has learned his lesson about playing back, rushing only three and dying a slow death

Agreed...Watson played well last game...hopefully he can keep that on the up and up and it might open up some opportunities for the other boys to get in the mix and stir it up to keep that mouth breather on his ass.

I just hope Saleh is smart enough to keep pressure on Manning.

I think he's smart enough...but it's on the boys to execute and make the plays. I think we have a good young core that is evolving and improving

Yep, i'm sure Saleh wishes he could blitz more, but that opens up holes too. But if push comes to shove, rather blitz more and get burned as opposed to playing zone. Even average NFL QBs can be successful against zones, given time. By now we can see the D-linemen alone can't supply consistent pressure.
