Figured it had to be well over a decade ago.

Was just pointing that out as a duck fan seemed happy to be in that underdog role. Hasn't worked out so well for this rivalry.

I think the Huskies go in and do what they do to get the W. Herbert hasn’t remotely faced a D like ours this year. Duck fans are crotch rubbing at his stats, while completely forgetting the rankings of the Ds they’ve faced. They also think because they had a bye that somehow magically buys you a W.
If Ducks want to test our backfield, by all means.....

It’s not like Petersen doesn’t do his homework. The gap in talent between the Huskies and Ducks is there at most positions.

As long as we don’t slow start, and Browning doesn’t make an avalanche of bad decisions, we get the W in respectable fashion.

UO is better than UW at QB, RB (overall group) and even up at a couple more. It's a hell of a lot closer than you may think. UW has a bit more depth, but we're healthy. I will give UW the edge on coaching.

A fast start by UW wouldn't necessarily worry me as we can score in bunches. My big concern is turnovers. We do have 2 young RB's.

A close game, I think.

Oregon has the best QB in this match up. Give them that. They also have a couple of decent WR's where UW has a couple that are emerging, but...

UW's Oline has been steadily getting solid and that shows in Gaskin's numbers. They've gone up against a couple of very tough defenses and are battle tested. Gotta give UW the rushing edge with Gaskin if he is indeed healthy and ready to go. He looked pretty bruised up late last game, but played through to the end and Petersen said he's fine. His shoulder may or may not be an issue moving forward. Still give them that edge for now. I'm not saying Verdel, Dye, and James don't present some danger. They do, but it's more about the pistol offense and the nature of how runs plays develop from it IMO. I don't believe UW has faced the pistol this year and it's not a common one for that defense. In fact, the run defense for UW hasn't been quite as deadly this year as in recent seasons. They have had a bit of bend but don't break kind of thing where they do get more stingy in the red zone, but have given up some chunk plays around the middle of the field.

The real question is can Oregon blitz and/or otherwise get in the backfield often enough to keep Jake off balance, while also covering well down field? If you can't do both you are going to have a tough day at the office. I honestly don't know the answer to that question. It looked like they had a good half against Stanford, but then now it looks like the cardinal isn't anything near what they should be this year.

The only way this is a blow out IMO, is some really fucky bullshit with the refs (always possible in the Pac) and/or a bunch of bad bounce turnovers. I think both teams are good for giving up one TO, but beyond that might spell your victor.

The ducks will score and likely on a couple of long break away plays. In the end I still like the huskies but would call it something like 31-24.
