Is it a realistic thought ?? .. maybe not ... would it be a great day for the Broncos if Elway could pull it off ??

I remember the 24 hour period back in March of 2014 : a lot was happening with the Broncos .. John Elway was a busy man ..

- We were in negotiations with Dominique Rogers Cromartie, trying to re-sign him at CB
- We were working on a deal to bring Jared Allen to the Broncos

Cromartie was making things difficult ... Allen balked and . . .

BOOM !!!

John Elway shocks us by getting Aqib Talib AND Demarcus Ware .. AND TJ WARD !!

Those moves not only won us a Super Bowl, they gave the Broncos an identity and helped create The No Fly Zone .. not to mention reviving Von Miller's career ..

( those injuries and that drunken photo of Miller that was taken the night of the Seattle SB are long forgotten )

We need John Elway to pull off something big ...

I love the Marquette King signing ... and I have faith that Case will even out and play with some better consistency ...

But that's a punter and a bridge QB

If it takes a first round pick, so be it ... If we were to get Patrick Peterson, we're picking mid-to-low first round .. and what kind of player with be there in 2019 ?? ... What players that will be available in the 20s will have the type of impact that bringing Peterson in would have ??

This one move could put The No Fly Zone back on the map

Roby goes back to his role as #3 - which he was great with - Peterson and Harris man the edges and in a few weeks, Su'a Cravens is out there too ...

We're currently about 7 mil under the cap, and while it might not be easy, there's gotta be a way to get this done ..

He’s been floated as a possible fix by some writers. I’d love to see it happen. Just one thing: I’m still not certain Joe Woods will use him accordingly. If that’s the case why pay all that money to not scheme to a player’s strengths?

No- we don't give up a high pick for Peterson. Not in our position now. He is nearing 30 years old. He is still a great player, just doesn't make sense for us right now, IMO. He will also be a hefty contract. As much as I like him it just doesn't make sense.

He just turned 28 in July, and is younger than Von Miller

If you look at what we've done with our mid to late 1st round picks, I think Peterson makes a lot of sense

If we don;t improve on the defensive side of the ball - in particular, cover pass catchers - something needs to be done ...

Will another notch in the revolving door of coordinators make this any better ?? .. I doubt it

The recipe for failure would be to stick with the comfortable/familar shoe that is Bradley Roby, give him a second contract and hire a new coordinator ...

If this is an issue with coordinators, then who or what would be the plan ??

Talib is what - 33 years old ? .. Peterson has another great 3-4 years, at least ..

I would be for this if we had our QBOTF or just signed PFM of 2012. Right now this move would be dumb. No disrespect to my buddy Lucas for idea. FO will have HC DC Keenum decisions to make in Jan not SB dreams imo.

I think there's going to be a Demaryius Thomas decision coming too

I don;t know the details ( hey, that never stopped me before ), and I'm sure that I am over simplifying things, but as far as salaries - would this team be better with a Sutton / Sanders - Harris /Peterson situation ??

Undoubtedly yes IMHO

But I'm sure it's not that simple

I am not a fan of giving Roby a second contract and sitting back and having him start at CB for the next 3 or 4 years

We'll see how this season plays out. Roby has been disappointing but, I'm not exactly sure if it's mostly him or clueless Woods.. CB has become a higher priority because we will need a CB1 and maybe CB2 in next few seasons. As far as DT I think he'll stay because he isn't a diva I think restructure is coming. . I don't think it would kill Denver to move on from DT in 19 but, hey its my opinion and not a popular one.

I am not questioning that Peterson has good years left. Of course he does. Obviously! One of the top CB's in the league...

It just doesn't make sense to me with a hefty contract and it will be his second big contract. Be different if this was 3 years ago to me and we signed him to a 5 year deal.

We have over 20 mil looped into Von Miller. It just doesn't make sense for us from a financial stand point on top of the compensation to get him.

You can't blame everything on Woods. You can either cover or you can't.

If Peterson was the only missing piece then yes I would consider this. At this point though there are a few missing pieces that need to get worked out. If it is for a 3rd round pick or less then I would be all for it. The odds of them letting a player of his caliber walk for a 3rd though is pretty slim.

Crash, when it's all said and done, don;t you think Ray ends up in KC ??

It's petty, I know, but as soon as I saw that tattoo, I wanted him out .. It doesn;t help that he's been another first round disappointment

I don't think that was petty . He should been traded My guess Is we can find someone ready to trade a player for player The Steeler's , Arizona would probably like some pass rush I bet there depth at CB is better than ours

I would think the only team that would have any interest would be a legit contender who needs some help with the pass rush ..

I cannot imagine Ray agreeing to a new contract w/ the Cards ...
