We are 1-1 after this game, last week when we were 1-0 there wasn't a more joyful fanbase on the Hoop. Now that there's been our 1st loss there's an air of betrayal, the chipiness is very noticeable from poster to poster, and the hopeful first week seems a distant memory. What happened?

There were 25,000 empty seats in the stadium today and likely just as many reasons why they didn't show for the home opener. Here on the hoop, where some of the most loyal, die-hard fans vent their joy and frustrations there seems rather seamless transition from elation to doom. Something big is going on with the overall fan base of this team and it isn't good. I remember that there were a couple of posters here who at one time or the other, stating that "they could find something better to do" when the subject was this team and that's troubling enough.

Pair this " I don't give a damn" attitude with a historically poor product inside of an NFL shield which also is showing signs of fan disinterest for varying reasons, and it's clear, Dan Snyder you have a problem!! There's an urgency in which you must provide a much better product on the field. People just aren't buying into mediocre anymore and time is running out. Right now, your team of good players has no young star attractions. Who are the headliners Dan? Baby boomers aren't your major marketing target any longer. Nike figured this out and now, so must you! Go ahead, try selling mediocre in an social media age and watch how quickly you find yourself and your poor product off of their "To Do" lists.

I agree with you! Just look at how many different head coaches Snyder, a man with deep pockets who knows nothing about the game of football, has had since he took over and I haven't liked him since day one as a lifelong Redskins fan. YES, I will remain loyal to my Redskins but I sure do wish we had a different owner.

Things are at an all time low Sty, I agree. You couldn't help but notice all the empty seats today. This is a bad organization. I have been following the Vikings more as you know and I can't say I know them well because I am not following them that close by when I do listen to Zimmer talk I am impressed.

Besides a bad FO I feel like watching Gruden is like watching Norv. A good OC but not a good HC. Meanwhile we don't recognize that talent in guys like Marvin Lewis or Scott McVay. The FO is got in a pissing match with the Shanahan so Kyle was not an option. We all keep hoping but I don't see it happening.

I couldn't have said what you just said any better!

It just sucks that we don't have anyone at the top who is dedicated to winning.

Question for you two guys or anyone else that wants to chime in...Do you see Snyder, after seeing all of those empty seats, convincing himself that it's a lack of fan support, nothing more that he can do ...OR... actually looking at his product, digging in, rolling up his sleeves, and getting to work?

I did some math the 40-47 year olds today enjoyed the Gibb era as a kid so the 18 - 39 fan base gots to be small so probaly since 1993 the fan base has been getting smaller and smaller and the 40 plus age group is keeping it alive idk goodnight

The thing about NFL ownership is you can't screw up financially because of all TV and sponsor money. Dan gets richer no matter how he manages the team. Sure he would like to win, but on his terms. He is winning at the bank. Kind of funny because every other business he has got involved in since he has owned the team has gone up in smoke.

Agree with you about Gruden, S. McVay or K. Shanahan would have been excellent keepers. As offensive minds go both make adjustments on the fly, particularly on offense. I know that there are people who will follow Kirk in Minny, and some who won't, but we all know that the second most important job in the DMV is Quarterback, and with it comes a love/hate relationship in a historically mediocre franchise. It would not surprise me if thaose "No-show" numbers increase even if victories outnumber defeats. There's something deeper going on here and I believe that it has a lot to do with trust. Snyder, would literally have to do a 180 in his hiring practices, make significant changes in the way he's personally perceived and commit to fielding a team that's produces deep playoff runs and at least one SB victory over several years, just to regain that lost trust.

Dan bought a franchise that even in a shitty year, had a season ticket waiting list. He also thought the best way to keep that fan base was to put big names on the ticket and the fans would come.

It worked for a few years, and still gets "SOME" of the fans excited. But this aint the 1990's, and folks are not raising their kids to be diehard fans... mainly because the real diehards have finally had enough. I would wager alot of ex-season ticket holders, are now CAPS season ticket holders.

Hey coach, if you don't mind are you in that 18-39 demographic? If so, let me ask you and our younger posters something.

I know that the older guys fell in love with the game itself, is this true of your generation or does the attachment to the game have more to do with Madden, Fantasy and other associated activities? Thanks!

I see it in the city all the time. We know this is a transient area and a lot of people here are not from here. People are wearing hats and shirts from all kinds of different teams. coach is right in that unless you are of a certain age you have never seen this team be successful. TVs are so good now it is easy to stay home and watch. Fed Ex Field is a poor stadium in a place that is a real pain to get into and out of. Then add that the team has largely sucked for 27 years.

Gotta count Fantasy, Madden and other associated activities as reasons why this generation keeps interest. I've asked @Coach and others to confirm this, and await his/their responses.
