Tocci is not hitting, but I don't think we should be surprised at that. He has only started 13 games this year. Only once has he had a streak of starting in consecutive games. That is a tough spot to be successful in. He is also only 22 and has had only 55 AB at the AAA level. He may not ever pan out, but I don't see how anyone could have expected much more of him this year.

Agree.....But if I'm a player, it would get 'under my skin' at least a tad, that this guy can't hit for shit, and everyone knows he needs to be at AA. Therefore, someone ain't getting a fair shake.

That said, it's a bigger picture situation......Hoping there is one of course.

You are probably right. Speed is great but if your On Base Pct is mediocre then it is negated.

It's hard to get enough walks to negate a 'less than' .220 BA......And whoever pointed out about him swinging at high pitches was right on.....Hope I gave ya a 'like' for that one......Honestly, it annoys me when he tries to show power. The 'want of power' is his enemy IMO.

Reminds me of Taylor Teagarden or the affectionate nickname K-garden.

That is when a team leader should speak up and explain a gew things to the team.

Starting to wonder if any return is a good return for Hamels.

Sorry....but he's worth damn near nothing to us.......I see no downside whatsoever

It looks like the Yankees are going to trade for Happ.

Also from mlbtraderumors.com:

The Rangers have only received “a couple of nibbles” in Shin-Soo Choo, and aren’t generating much more interest in either Cole Hamels or their bullpen trade chips. Part of the issue is that the Rangers’ players aren’t standing out amidst a deep market for relief options, and Hamels’ poor performance over his last five starts has raised concerns among rival evaluators. Some Rangers officials believe Hamels’ struggles may be influenced by stress over the trade rumors.
