There is probably not any that were as bad as he is now or anywhere close to it. Close to as bad as he was last year might be a different story. I think he had an ERA close to five and a half last year and there are probably some guys we have brought in in the fiveish range.

That is a gamble though. There is also a possibility he continues to pitch this poorly as long as he is here.

Can't think off any off the top of my head, he's been fucking pathetic. He was putrid last year too though, so I have no idea why the hell he was signed. Could have brought up just about any AA pitcher and they wouldn't have been as bad

He was used so much last year that a drop-off was inevitable I think. His workload increased 60% over the year before.

Maybe he rebounds next year.

I have not studied what the A's gave up enough to know that. It doesn't interest me.

Frontrunning? That is an odd word to use in this context.

Point is, they could not compete again until they rebuild. That is the point that is so hard to understand apparently.

In 3 of the 4 games since the All Star break we have given up a total of 40 runs. The other game Gallardo pitches a shutout. Go figure.

They are 3 games behind Seattle for a WC and the 1 game playoff. I would imagine they are just trying to make it that far to start with. Probably why they made the trade.

That is my point. It is not a sin to trade away a prospect in hopes to get you to the playoffs even if this does not make you a legit favorite.
