Who I think easily is in.

Nick Saban
Urban Meyer
Bill Snyder - not level of Saban or Meyer, but is level of a HOF HC he was under Hayden Fry.

Who I think has just barely made it in.

Dabo Swinney - Lately he has been a HOF HC, but is it enough?
Mark Richt - He is quite consistent
Jimbo Fisher - I think he did just good enough to be a HOF.

Borderline, and I am leaning to just made it in, but can see argument for not in yet.

Gary Patterson - mainly for what TCU did as a mid-major
Chris Peterson - mainly for coaching at Boise State. Not long enough tenure at Washington IMO.
Bobby Petrino - don't like him but he has an impressive resume
Chip Kelly - did great at Oregon, but was there for only 4 years

Who I think just missed out, whether for more time or who's resume just doesn't live up.

Kirk Ferentz
Mark Dantonio
Brian Kelly
David Shaw
James Franklin

To me the five best coaches are Saban, Meyer, Dabo, Petersen, and Patterson. They should be in. Snyder is probably a shoe in, probably deserves it too for what he’s done.

The rest have work to do. I think Gundy is close also. He has been amazingly consistent at a program that hasn't had a lot of success. HOF recognizes coaches that elevate their programs and finish as one of the best coaches.

The way he’s coaching and recruiting, Smart will almost certainly have something to say about the whole thing before it’s all said and done.

Hayden Fry's big thing is his coaching tree. And he is in the Hall of Fame.

Wikipedia

John Hayden Fry (born February 28, 1929) is a former American football player and coach. He served as the head football coach at Southern Methodist University (SMU) from 1962 to 1972, North Texas State University—now known as the University of North Texas—from 1973 to 1978, and the University of Iowa from 1979 to 1998, compiling a career college football record of 232–178–10. • Bret Bielema, Wisconsin, 2006-2012; Arkansas, 2013–2017

Also, his 1983 coaching staff was one of the best ever. If I'm not mistaken, he also recruited the first black player in the Southwestern Conference (which is mostly made up of now Big 12 teams).

The man exudes righteousness and pure class. He is a sight to behold, isn’t he? The slender build, those oversized choppers, that spectacular hairline. It’s glorious. I’m convinced the man’s never done wrong or committed a sin in his entire life. Call him Jesus Christ.

He deserves to be in. He had a great influence on the game. One guy I should have added is Leach. He and Hal Mumme changed the game of football with their offense. Its one reason I have Patterson in the HOF. He was running a nickel base way before it became common in CFB and now HS. It isn't just about the wins and losses. There are many coaches that made it into the Hall of Fame because of their contribution to the game and their influence on it

Patterson and Peterson shouldn't be above Dabo. Yea, that's my homer opinion, but Dabo has a Natty, 7 - 10+ win seasons in a row (2011-2017), 6 division C'ships, and 4 conference C'ships (the last 3 in a row). He is 101-30 with a .771 winning %.

Not to shabby for a wr's coach and part time real estate agent turned head coach.

If you're wondering why I have Dabo in front of Jimbo, consider the circumstances and ease of recruiting.
