its just bonkers, and kind of bullshit if you ask me, that the team who just signed LeBron James knows they cant win a title next year. The league is broken to a certain extent.

I honestly dont think this happens under David Stern.

I don't know what Stern could have done about it. The Warriors aren't breaking any rules. The only reason he was able to stop the CP3 trade to the Lakers was because the league owned the Hornets.

I'm just cracking up at how butthurt everyone is. Like this is somehow the "new normal" in the NBA.

Can't wait for the "The Warriors broke the league" posts to start.

This team has been put together by smart drafts and some very fortuitous timing. It's unlikely that we'll ever see anything like this again in our lifetimes.

Hell, we won't see this again in my grandsons lifetimes.

I'm just getting a kick out of watching it because in a couple of seasons the bill is going to come due and the Warriors are going to have some tough choices to make.

Steph, Klay and Dray were but once they found out they were done winning KD came along. Lebron and Kyrie were too much. Now 2 in a row and it’s Cousins. The core was built but not this. This is a monster. I’m actually not mad, the Cavs were in rebuild at the PERFECT time lolzz

Its still fresh, gonna take me more than 20 min to get past the denial and anger stages.

Whatever. We got abused by you guys for the first 3 decades of me actually following basketball. Showtime did it with free agency basically not existing, the W's machine does it because it is there.

They won 73 games that season. Enough with the nonsense. Even without Durant they would have been the favorite going into the season. You telling me a team that just won 73 games as the defending champion all of a sudden figures they're "done with winning" because they lost a heart-breaker with a gimpy Curry for the finals? That's just ridiculous. And Curry torched you in the finals the next year as well.

OKC got fucked by the league rules when they traded Harden. But the rules have turned out perfect for gs. I'm not saying the league wanted gs to win every title. It's just that the rules have favored them and how the team has been constructed over several seasons. Basically they got lucky while also putting together a very good team. Perfect storm basically.

Dude, relax.....

Gordon is a LeBron fan.

He's been a Lakers fan for about 24hrs.

You can't blame him for the sins of Lakers past...lol

Why was Draymond in the parking lot begging KD to come? They could be beat and the Cavs showed that. They might not lose a game next year. Give them the trophy.

The favorite is different than the season is a wrap. If CP3 was healthy GS would have lost last year. Imagine if they somehow dont win this year, it will be sad, very sad

The rules didn't make you choose to trade Harden.

They didn't make you choose to pay Ibaka over him either.

Your ownership chose not to pay the bill.

That's on them.

They choose not to pay.

Marc Spears talked Cousins and was just on SC. He said Cousins told him he had ZERO offers from any other team, was hurt, and decided to call his agent last night about going to the Warriors and he reached out to the Warriors this morning.

If that's true, FUCK ALL 29 OF THE OTHER TEAMS.

Seriously, not one of them couldn't give a 1 year try out? NO or LA couldn't give some 15 to 20 mil for 1 year? Utterly ridiculous

We disagree really hard on this. Go back and look. Harden wanted to get paid and OKC wasn't allowed to give him the contract Houston could under the former rules.

I don't believe it for a second.

Maybe no multi year max offers, but any team would've matched/beaten what he signed for.

What? Stern is the one that allowed the superteam crap to start in the first place.

Then, when other teams tried to follow to compete with the Heat, he rejected a legit trade.

He claimed they wanted parity, but once the Heat happened, there was no way to put the cat back into the bag.

Fact is, you can't force the players to do anything. As a FA, they can sign wherever they like and for whatever amount they like.

The minute Stern said he couldn't stop the Heat team from happening because they were FA's and free to do whatever they wanted, everyone else knew they could do the same.

Hence, the NBA as we know it.

Exactly....that's why everyone needs to chill....

Be mad at your owner.

If Boogie has to take a Shit deal, he might as well get a ring while doing so.

Plus, winning, playing at a high level and being a part of a great team that has this type of visibility can only enhance his FA offers next Summer.

The 5.3 deal, no doubt. But I wouldn't be all that shocked if no team gave him an offer past 15 mil. I think that's what he means, no serious offers. Just some team wanting him to take a bare offer.

Right, but look at the timing of how things worked out to allow this.

Steph, Klay and Dray are drafted. But for various reasons they don't take off right away and with Steph's early ankle issues, they are all still on very favorable contracts when they become contenders.

Which allows them to sign KD.

Then, the best center in the league tears his Achilles just as he's about to be a UFA and is willing to take an exception deal so he can try to play himself back into the max deal he was looking at getting this off season before the injury.

If Steph, Klay and Dray emerge a season sooner, or maybe even a season later...the KD and Boogie additions likely never happen.

If Boogie doesn't tear his Achilles, he's the 2nd most anticipated FA signing after Lebron.

Oh, and thus far, they've all been willing to sacrifice some money for winning. What's hilarious is we've all bitched for years about money being more important than winning to players.

We finally have a team of guys who are putting winning before money and we're bitching about it.

Like I said, we'll never see this again. I'm just gonna have fun with it while it's happening.
