That is what is on their site, that is not what they adhere to. Every school is required to have those minimums, that does not mean that they cannot actually set the bar higher. Do you think UW only adheres to those minimums?

  • Check with your AARC advisor when planning to repeat a class
  • EACH quarter: you must pass 6 degree-applicable units

By the START of Sophomore Year you must:

  • have a cumulative GPA of 1.8
  • have completed 36 units
By the END of Sophomore Year you must:

  • declare a major
By the START of Junior Year you must:

  • have a cumulative GPA of 1.9
  • have completed 33% of your degree requirements
By the START of Senior Year you must:

  • have a cumulative GPA of 2.0
  • have completed 50% of your degree requirements
By the START of your Coterm year you must:

  • have a cumulative GPA of 2.0
  • have completed 67% of your degree requirements
SPORT-SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
BASEBALL
Must be eligible in the Fall Quarter in order to be eligible in the Winter and Spring Quarters

FOOTBALL
Must pass 8 degree-applicable units in the Fall Quarter to be eligible for the next season (Fall Quarter of the following year)

MEN & WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
In order to participate in summer practices, must be enrolled in summer courses at Stanford or be on 4-year academic plan (25% of total degree requirements by the start of sophomore year, 50% total degree requirements by the start of junior year, 75% of total degree requirements by the start of senior year)

Again. These go into affect once you've gotten into Stanford. At Stanford you're going to classes with people who probably could have also gone to Yale and Harvard and MIT. Not so at most other schools in the PAC. You don;t seem to understand the value of a Stanford degree. If it was just as easy to get into Stanford as Colorado or Washington or USC or Oregon everyone would go there. Shaw would be turning hundreds away. lol

Didn't answer my question, do you think that admissions to UW for athletes is only the NCAA minimum? Do you think once admitted UW does not hold them to a higher standard than the minimum?

Someone find me a link from an official Stanford site explaining how football recruits have to meet anything other than the NCAA requirements. I'll wait for that reply with the link. :)

OK we have read the link, you still have not answered my question. Do you or do you not think that Stanford and UW require their athletes to exceed those minimums, even if not published on their site?

I'm implying what's on the Stanford website ... NCAA academic requirements.

So you think some kid who got into Mercer or Chattanooga with the minimum could get into Stanford? LOL

I posted the link to Stanford's requirements for its student athletes ... from the Stanford site no less. I'm still waiting for a counter reply with a link from a Stanford site contradicting the link I posted. Good luck with that.

I am waiting for an answer to my question too. So we have a detente with you trying to claim something you know to be untrue. The website states what it has to state for NCAA purposes.

It's for "student athletes" not requirements to get into Stanford . They have been accepted into Stanford and while at Stanford they need to have these minimum requirements to represent Stanford. You're not getting past admissions if you have these minimums in High School.

If anyone thinks Shaw has a smaller recruiting pool than say a school like Cal or UW then they need to stop drinking the Kool-Aide. I posted the link and what it says on that link. It's in plain English.

Good lord. The NCAA has minimum requirements for you to play football. These are for kids who already got in to that school. So once a kid gets into Stanford or UW they have to meet these requirements to play. But getting into each school is not the same for all. Getting into Arizona is easier than getting into USC and getting into USC is easier than getting into Cal and getting into Cal is easier than getting into Stanford which is the hardest in the PAC

Well you obviously can't read or have comprehension issues. Those are not minimum requirements to get into Stanford. They are what the NCAA requires for you to play sports once you're in Stanford. The NCAA doesn't tell Stanford who they accept.

Student athletes ... I posted the link. It's a myth that Stanford has a small recruiting pool for its players. Now granted they might have a harder time keeping their grades up than say an SEC school where they recruit the braindead and lie about the classes they take, but it stops there.

Yo @B_dub ... you seem pretty intelligent for an Okie. Can you explain to us what that says/means in the quote. It's always helpful to get an outside opinion on these matters.

Noone can dispute that Stanford is the cream of the crop for academics but we can't pretend half of their athletes would be accepted had they not been great athletes. Surprisingly athletes get rejected by Stanford in their first semester until another university in the conference accepts them, see Richard Sherman, Toby Gerhart and Josh Garnett.
