This is the closest thing to the truth I've seen on here.
People have the misconception that it's about the importance of positions, when nothing could be further from the truth. It's about how easy it is to find an average player at the position. Average players are a fact of life on every team. The salary cap sees to that. A truly elite player at any position, with the possible exception of long snapper, elevates the performance of a team greatly. Every team is looking for the best talent, but have to fill out their rosters with average and below average talent.
So as a result, they prioritize positions that are harder to find average talent, in the draft.
The center might be rated higher, if you didn't need only one.
Completely and totally disagree. Teams reach on QBs all the freakin time because they know QB is the corner stone of a franchise. The top 10 is dominated with DE, LT, CB and QB almost every year cause these are the 3 prized possessions in building a top team. C, MLB, S and TE aren’t as crucial to your success and exactly why they get drafted later.
So a team has never in the last 60 years had a poor Center and desperately needed one yet pass on elite Centers in the top 10 for 60 years... Come on. That’s what you are saying. You’re theory is in the last 60 years teams picking in the top 10 all had good Centers.
