Can someone tell me more about everything involved? How long do I have to wait to see new episodes of a TV show, does it have Big10 Network, what apps/downloads do I need to pay for to get the ideal package, when I get internet service do I need a larger then normal cable speed? The more info the better please and thank you.

Same here. I am looking to purchase 1 soon as well. Have not had a ton of time to look into it though. Mostly interested in side loading Android apps.

I believe you can get the Big10 Network through the FoxSportsGo app on Fire devices.

As for what packages you want, you will want or need, it depends on your preferences. Fire tv, Hulu, & Netflix offer catalogs along with original content. Netflix & Hulu are around $13 for commercial free viewing. Netflix offers more original content. Hulu offers next day new episodes for most channels, minus CBS & AMC. Hulu & Youtube both offer live tv including regional sports packages for around $55. There is also sling tv that gives you live tv for around $25 which will include the regional sports channel. Keep in mind that all these services minus Netflix come with the option to add on premium channels like HBO for a fee.

My suggestion is to try out as many as you can before coming to a conclusion. Hulu & Sling tv offer free trials. So try them out first, then move on to the other ones. There are no contracts, so you can cancel at anytime. Hulu only allows two device streams at any one time.

Personally I have Netflix & Hulu without commercials. That comes to about $25 a month. I have an Amazon Prime membership, but I rarely watch Fire TV. I also bought & an outdoor digital antenna for about $40 to get all the live local channels on all the TVs in my house.

As for your internet, you probably want at least something in the mid range, above 20mbs, preferably 50mbs or better. It really depends on the number of connections you will have going at any one point & if you want to watch in 720, 1080, or 4k. Also, if you are going to have more than one or two people streaming in your house, you will need a data plan large enough. With three people in my house, we use about 500GBs a month out 1024GBs allowed at speeds around 70mbs. I only pay for 50mbs.

I don't have too much to say about the sports channels as I just stream games from the internet via my android phone. I hope that answered some questions for you guys.

I cant tell you about live tv...

But you NEED terrarium tv

in your fire stick settings, you have to allow for third party apps

to get it is simple first download the downloader app

in the downloader app- go to this URL HTTP://SportsHoopla.com/firetv3

and install Aptoid

then from aptoid, you can download Terrariumtv

it will change your tv life, and make you as big of a loser as I am...

Cool thanks. I actually have it on my phone already so it would be nice to have it on the big screen.

All of that depends... if you have cable or satellite you can download specific channel apps and log in with you cable/satellite info. If you don’t you’ll need a subscription to a streaming TV service like sling or direct tv now if you want live tv. They’re all a little different and around the same price, so you’d have to shop around and pick what works for you. All the streaming service apps are free to download, but you’ll need to set up a subscription to log in. Most will do a wee free trial. Other than that you just download what you want, some stuff is free, most you need some kind of subscription for.

I’d suggest getting the similarly priced Roku device over the fire stick, UNLESS you are really into prime video and want it integrated into the layout of everything, are planning on hacking it, or both.

You’ll just need to get those apps and have a subscription for them. Either device will work fine, the reason I suggested Roku is all apps are equal, you can get all the same stuff on both (practically anyway, I’m sure you can find some obscure stuff that’s only available on one or the other). If you just want Netflix, and the option for some other stuff like specific sports channels, and you like prime video and see yourself using it to rent or buy movies, the fire stick would probably be perfect for you.

I’m pretty sure the Big 10 channel has an app, fox sports, ESPN, they all do. As long as they’re part of you cable package you’ll be able to access them. If they aren’t you’ll be out of luck unless you subscribe to a service that includes them, look up how to add foreign apps on the device so you can get the shady free ones, or have the neighbor kid do it for you.

So you are saying I’d still have to pay for movies? Would it still be cheaper then purchasing Netflix?

Depends how much you watch. Movies are anywhere from $3 to $6 to rent, Netflix is $11/month. If you only watch a couple movies renting would be cheaper. Netflix is awesome if you’ve never used it, it’s basically turned into a premium cable channel, I put it on par with HBO as far as quality of their original programming goes, and they have a big selection of movies and shows beyond that. Even with a broad selection, it’s limited, especially if you want new movies. I’d say just do both. Try Netflix, and if there’s a new movie you really want to see not on Netflix, rent it. Prime video also has a selection of free movies and shows included in a prime membership.

Or look into the terrarium route and stream everything for free.

Explain please

Terrarium is a free 3rd party app for firestick and other smart devices... Not sure if you can get it on Roku...

it goes through android apps...

you can basically watch any movie, any tv show you want... as long as there is a good download for it...

its similar to bit torrents, but it is all streaming...

I downloaded CetusPlay app to my phone, then it was easy to load Terrarium onto firestick, also lets you use phone as a remote, and keyboard interface for searching titles.

Fire Tools is another app that easily sideloads to Firesticks. Might even be able to load to Chromecast too.

For sports, I just find a stream on reddit, and HDMI from my laptop to the TV.

There is probably some way to cast it that I don't understand, but low tech way works fine.
