Malcolm Butler missed curfew, had weed on him, and argued with coaches over it

If I was Tom Brady I'd be pissed at the coach and malcolm butler. What a fuck up. Foles and Jeffrey went off and the probowl CB wasn't used once.

This doesn't make any sense. Why did Bill come out and say it was a football decision? If this story is true, why did Bill wait right before kickoff to throw his defense off? The replacement didn't even know he was starting until after the National Anthem.

Somebody need to come out and tell the whole story.

We'll likely never know the whole story. Belichick and his staff certainly aren't speaking up and Butler isn't going to want to ruin the payday that he's about to get anymore than he already has.

I remember Wes Welker saying "feet" about 50 times in a press conference after it was revealed that Rex Ryan has a foot fetish. BB benched him for a quarter.

Look, I get that rules are important and must be enforced but all those other guys worked very very hard to get to that point. They deserve to have the best players out there when they are battling.

If this report is true, Malcolm Butler let his teammates down for sure but BB may have let them down as well by not picking some lesser penalty. I mean, if it was that bad why suit him up at all? Why allow him to play on special teams (which he did)?

I'm not sure any of this makes any sense

That was funny! Belichick has no sense of humor.

I guess he should tell it all after he get paid.

Question for Pats fans, does Butler's pick of Wilson make up for this or will he be remembered more for this?

"Winning is everything, it's the ONLY thing." -- Vince Lombardi

I don't care if he was caught fucking Belichick's hot young girlfriend. Winning the SB is more important.
I think that way to, but I gotta give props to BB for sticking to his guns on this.

I mean, if he is willing to bench his star CB for the fucking Superbowl, you know he isn't fucking around.

I feel proud of the way Pats fans in general have handled this loss. Sure many thought there would be a bunch of whining. The defense, the refs, the flags, the bullshit, etc. Hope the guy that knocked out Cooks gets run over by a truck.

So while trying to pat yourself on the back for the lack of complaints you air all your grievances and wish death on a player for a clean play?

Hell of a post there.

I don't think it was a good call to bench Butler, but Rowe did pretty good all things considered. That Jeffery td catch was well defended, it was an awesome throw to the back shoulder of the bigger WR.

Short of committing a penalty I am not sure what he could have done there

Butler is a decent little DB that made a great play in the SB against Seattle. It didn't hurt that Pete Carroll runs a high school offense and BB had practiced and coached up his defensive backfield a number of times on that particular play in the days leading up to the SB.

He is tough kid that is usually a sure tackler, but his size is a negative when assessing his play. For me and most (I believe) NE fans he will be remembered for the great SB clinching play and a couple of mostly solid seasons after that. I can't say I'm thrilled that he missed curfew and was out getting high the night before the SB, but I was young once too.

This is on Belichik.

Butler should have played. The team got penalized by his absence.

Butler would have made zero difference in that game. He doesn't play LB and he doesn't rush the passer. Those are the two areas that cost NE the game.

He just would have compensated somewhat for all the shitty tackling in the secondary and having to watch Richardson weak attempts at covering a WR is all. Sorry, Butler is a big upgrade over Bademosi and Rowe from a coverage standpoint and especially a tackling standpoint - RB WIDEOUT TE or whatever. Butler sticks his nose in there to blowup the edge plays - and the Eagles were focused on attacking the edge. If anyone has watched him at all this year, the guy is small, but plays with attitude (which all of us Pats fans who have watched him love) - which is probably the same attitude that got him into hot water with Belichick.

Yes IMO he would have made a difference, best tackler of the group.

Now I don't know what he's done, may never know - but Butler can ball.

Of freaking course he would've made a difference. He is a starter, who was a last-minute healthy scratch.

I agree Butler is better and would have made a difference. I just think Rowe did admirably for the situation BB put him in.
