@gkekoa do you think this trade was in the works for awhile because we resigned dunbar prettay darn fast after the season was over

Nope. I think they evaluated a RFA and knew we would lose a good player so they negotiated a deal. The contract was finalized after the season...we have no idea how long it was worked.

i think alot people are pissed on here because they are kirk lovers but here is the fact 1. Kirk at age 30 was not going to resign (last big payday before he hangs it up) 2. skins fucked up 2 years ago but Scott Mac said at that time trade kirk scott mac did not want kirk either not all bruce fault.3.they new at 13 at best they could get the 3rd or 4th best qb could that player start and win games in 18 proably not because there not the top two.. 4.find a solid qb that can move the chains and the sametime we can still rebuild defense and running game and are depth at cb was so deep losing 1 was no big deal

I am pissed because we gave up what we did for a guy that will not make us any better and will likely make us worse unless we make a huge jump in the run game and the defense.

1- I was fine with allowing KC to walk. I would have liked to see him return and would have at least offered 26 mil a season, but if he left, he left.

2- SM has no bearing on my anger at this move. SM was treated unprofessionally and he had a much better track record of success than Allen.

3- They didn’t consider the draft at all. We won’t win in 2018 without one of those QBs.

4- show me what makes you believe Alex Smith can run an offense that isn’t already built.

Show me how you plan on building a defense while letting your elite players go.

Fuck I hate agreeing with Gkekoa even though he saved me 15% on my car insurance but I actually agree with all 4 points he made. Now we all can dwell on KC but folks he is gone. Let’s figure out what we need to do know to succeed. I wouldn’t mind us taking Mayfield still if we thought he was a franchise QB. Let him sit behind Smith for 2yrs and learn the system. Yes we have other holes to fix so let’s see how Allen fucks it up.

We lost a 3rd rounder for now but we can still get a 3rd rounder back through the draft trading down or picking up extra picks and fuller was good nodoubt but we are still loaded at cb and still Fa and draft yet

Can you pass the stuff you are smoking? We can also sign Cousins then trade him for 4-1st picks to the Browns in your hypothetical world.

If the Redskins had extended a reasonable offer, as they should have immediately following the season, they may have something. The Redskins proclaim the Cousin’s camp wouldn’t sit down...we are actually believing this organization? Really?

In this case the FO sounds plausible, but what did they expect would happen? After 2+ years of low-ball offers, acting like they were doing Cousins favors with said low-ball offers and trying to paint Cousins team as the bad guys.

HOLD THE FUCK UP

So Kirk at 30 is trying to make that last big pay day before he hangs it up at the ripe old age of 35 at that point because he will be too old to be an effective QB in this league.

But signing Alex Smith to HIS third big contract at the age of 34, and throwing in a draft pick and a player to get this spring chicken was a good idea??

Can we move on Kirk please in peace ..oh big shout out to the anti Kirk fans WE WON!!!

Won what? Our 9th Off-Season Championship in the last 20 years? So you was who Allen was talking to when he came up with his asinine winning off the field comment. Congrats, coach. You earned it and you truly deserve it.

Asking sensible questions to nonsensical claims. That's not allowed in the Off-Season Championship Derby. You know better than that.

If you listened to Cousin's what he said is he wanted to see what would happen on the open market ... he never said he would not sign. From his and his agents point of view that was smart considering the Redskins low balled him over and over.

I agree with the idea that he is gone, time to move on. I am on record and will say again that I think the got the best NFL option. As I keep saying if Smith plays great then most will be happy, if not and Cousin's does will cue up the village people. :lm::lm::lm::lm:

You get a better contract on an extension of 35 million dollars than you do on a flat contract...end of story.

I think Bradford, if healthy, would do better here.

Yet we were 7-9 with KC. So what you're implying is that KC is no better than Bradford and all of em that you mentioned there. To me it was quite obvious KC didn't want to be here... I knew that before the last season and even started a thread entitled "embrace this season" with KC for good or for bad,, embrace it becuz he wouldn't be here the following year. Ill be honest,, since I knew he wasnt gonna be here I'm happy that they got Smith over Bradford or all the others. At least they got a competent QB who has actually played in the playoffs... at least the first half of the playoffs anyway. So ill say now... embrace this season coming up... cuz next year we will probably be starting the QB that we drafted this april after Smith falters yet again in the playoffs,,, if were so lucky that is.
