dumb question, is there a deadline for signing players during the season similar to the trade deadline? Or is it only based on the contract you currently have (i.e. a franchise tag requires that you can't talk about resigning the player till after the season).

The franchise or transition tag along with the rookie contract restrictions arte the only reasons you cant talk contract in season with a player. And the rookie contract restriction is only in the first three years of the deal. Beyond that, if they wanted to try and sign Brown long term, they could do it tomorrow provided he agreed to it. Odds are his agent would tell them lets talk about this after week 12 or so in order to drive up his players value though.

I wasn't irritated by GM's hire, but I'd be lying if I said I thought it was a good hire. Before the season began. The Redskins Def Co job looked to be more trap than an opportunity, at least to me, which is why 2 or 3 or 267 people said thanks, but no thanks to it. Member ol' Wade Phillips saying something along the lines of them (Skins defense) having nothing to work with as the reason he turned it down and we all agreed with his assessment or at least understood it. I'm happy to report I to was wrong. Wrong about GM being a good hire and wrong in agreeing with Phillips.

And I'd also like to take this opportunity to say of the front office. I still don't like or trust either of the ass0s in our FO. And they were lucky, damn lucky it appears thus far, concerning the hiring of Manusky and you know what?

Its about damn time those 2 ass0s in the FO caught a break at least as it pertains to matters of the Washington Redskins. Kudos to you gentlemen on a job mostly well done thus far.

Good post.....I honestly believe that what we are witnessing with respects to those two front office clowns is, a case of a broke clock being right twice a day!:trash:

So far I'm chuffed with the defensive play. But I'm going to wait until week 8 or so before I can tell if Manusky is the truth or not.

Why would you have to wait until week 8? The game plan against the Raiders was Manusky's I'm sure with input from likely Tomsula, LB coach and Gray. He put together a tremendous plan and the players executed flawlessly. This tells me that game planning is huge, GM has the ability to put together a very effective plan and "if" the players execute, good things happen.
The defense may have a clunker or two this season however, I have seen enough now to know GM is a capable DC and if he and his defensive squad continue to grow together, we will continue to see strong performance like we did Sunday night. I believe his predecessor had no clue how to put together a similar game plan thus poor results.

It is the smart move. You have to see how other teams adjust to what you are doing. Looks good so far. Manusky is attacking instead of reading and reacting. Lots of good additions on that side of the ball. Brown, Allen, Swearinger and I like Money Nicholson so far.

Hoping that Tomsula is the Skins D coordinator next year while Manusky is someone else's head coach. The best sign an organization is going great is when the assistants get to be head coaches elsewhere. Just don't stay in the NFC East. I might be getting a tad ahead of things, but I really hope Manusky does well. Crazy - we have a backup RB who might be a Pro Bowler, and we have a D Coordinator who might be more important than the head coach.
