Why can't they EVER break through despite A) recruiting from a hotbed like Texas B) tons of support from the school and fans C) playing in the SEC SEC SEC

Sumlin missed his shot last season, had a lot of NFL talent on the team, vet QB, and a down SEC. He's probably fired this season, even though his record is probably about aTm's average.

Sorry, Trevor Knight wasn't a vet QB who was going to lead anyone to anything. Yes he had experience in other systems, but he wasn't a great QB.

IMO he would be a nice fit in the Big12 or PAC. Not sure the SEC is the best spot for his style of play.

He'll end up in Texas somewhere, depends on who loses a coach. UTSA could lose Wilson, SMU could lose Morris, Texas Tech could fire Kliff.

They missed the boat last year. They aren't very good on the lines this year, in conference play is going to be a disaster. The OL and Dl must isn't very talented right now, and they're breaking in a new qb. They might not even make their average this year. It's going to take a herculean effort coaching wise for this team to get more than 7 wins. I'm not sure the school will keep him with that record, and they've lost all momentum they had as a program on the recruiting trail since moving to the SEC. This week be an interesting season no doubt.

They did the same thing in the Big XII.
They did the same thing in the SWC.

It's nothing new.
It's not a new phenomenon.
It's what they do.

RC Slocum was the best coach they ever had and they fired him.

If the SEC wanted aTm and Missouri to come into the Conference and continue their Perennial Door Mat Status, then congrats, Mission Accomplished.

meh, we'll see. Strong was supposed to make it hard for us to recruit as well.

Bama not finishing #1 at the end of the year will do more than anything else for recruiting.

Competition hasn't mattered one IOTA......they're still a 4th place team in their half of the conference like they were in the Big12

And right now, they're getting KILLED in recruiting........just like they were in the Big 12.

They need to focus on one thing.......getting the right long term coach. That fixes a lot of ills.......

How do they get killed in recruiting? Do their facilities suck or something? Are recruits scared of College Station?
