I was praying Oregon would keep Helfrich on for at least one more season.
No chance that was happening after hearing stories of how much control over the team he lost.

Helfrich's biggest fvckup imo was not firing Hoke. In fact he should have never hired him in the first place. Hoke never was a DC unless you count his days coaching high school football. No chance that was happening after hearing stories of how much control over the team he lost.

Oregon is also going to sign 28 players because of the attrition during the coaching change. That will improve their ranking. My guess is Oregon ends up top 15, possibly top 10 if they land all their top targets.
I thought the NCAA out in a hard cap on 25 players recently. I am not sure though
The cap goes in THIS year. It was made effective in April.
I think there is still a factor in how many did they take the prior year and with that how many enroll early.Do you have a link? All the insiders discussing recruiting are saying Oregon is taking 28. I doubt they all forgot about this new rule. Maybe it's not a hard cap?

Surprise, surprise, surprise.
At one point, 4-star DT Calvin Avery out of Dallas, TX was considered a strong lean towards TCU...but Lovie Smith worked some magic and Avery committed to Illinois today (Friday 8/4).
Calvin Avery, Bishop Dunne, Defensive Tackle
Congrats to the Fighting Illini.
I imagine the upcoming $80 million football facility will help Illinois recruiting.
Illini unveil Football Performance Center plans
That one is a surprise. Thought he was TCU bound for sure.
