I know we have a superhero thread, but I figured I would make a thread detailing our favorite superhero movies. For me, the superhero "genre" consists of any story that details a man with super powers, or who acts as a vigilante, so movies like Hancock count (not sure that anyone will have Hancock in their list, but regardless). I will do my top 20, you are free to do your top 5 or 10.

Without further ado:

1. The Dark Knight
2. Spider-Man 2
3. Batman Begins
4. Iron Man
5. Unbreakable
6. The Avengers
7. The Dark Knight Rises
8. Spider-Man
9. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
10. V for Vendetta
11. Captain America: Civil War
12. The Amazing Spider-Man
13. Captain America: The First Avenger
14. Iron Man 2
15. Batman Forever
16. Spider-Man 3
17. Daredevil
18. Batman Returns
19. Thor: The Dark World
20. The Incredible Hulk

Daredevil: 3.5/5 stars; GOTG: 3/5 stars.

Honestly, I was expecting people to give me shit for my list since people always do, but I thought people would be more upset about Batman Forever or Spider-Man 3 than Daredevil. Though I was talking about the theatrical cut, the director's cut has gotten a lot of respect in the superhero community for cutting out the romance crap with Jennifer Gardner's Elektra (my biggest complaint with the film, as I largely enjoyed the rest).

Oh shit! Batman: Under the Red Hood: 4.5/5 stars. Great pick up.

I am curious to see how people on this forum rate Watchmen. I gave it 2/5 stars, but, being like the Cloud Atlas of superhero movies, it is one of the most polarizing movies of the last 20 years. I enjoyed the comic much more. I am also surprised you have Ant-Man and Thor so high. Well, not really Ant-Man, that was a fun movie (3/5 stars), but Thor was a snoozer to me.

Ant-man is a movie that checks all of the boxes, imo. Funny, interesting action sequences, good dialogue, good actors, lots of very well done social commentary, good special effects and just overall entertaining.

Thor arguably has the best actors of any super hero movie. Its also arguably the most important because it was the first MCU movie that really took the leap from everyday hero to super hero.

And Watchmen is brilliant. Cloud Atlas is brilliant but messy. Watchmen is just long.

I am not a fan of V at all, but I acknowledge that a lot of people like it. Outside of that, very solid top 5.

Shit and I'd also like to throw Spawn (1997) in there. That shit was awesome.

I did. Civil War is boring and meaningless.

It does have the coolest scene in superhero history but the entire movie just acts as a setup and resolution to the airport scene.

I admit that there are holes in the story (Stark and Rogers should be on reverse sides, for example), but I am OK with those holes. At least they tried to explain everyone's stance.

Yes, the airport scene was kickass. You have Antman establishing that he belongs. You have Spider-Man displaying Hulk-level strength. You have "enemies" struggling with having to fight each other.

But there is also the Chase scene on the highway. The fight in the Winter Soldier lair was pretty good as well (granted, Zemo was a weak villain).

But at the end of the day, it was a comic book movie that delivered big scenes and well done matchups. Certainly better than Thor that really delivered nothing.
