Very good pick up. I think last year was the 1st year an undrafted player didn't make the team in I don't know how many consecutive years. I think this year we get back to adding an UDFA or two to the roster. This looks like a very good group and really more than anything a very strong Practice Squad that can have a couple of guys develop over a year like Shaq Barrett did then come in and contribute next year.

Also agree with Randymon in the WR class this year was down right terrible. That is why I did like that DC turned me towards Carroo because he was one of the few WR's early on in this draft that was a pure WR in that he had very natural strong hands, decent route running, and very good body control to make plays. This kid definitely has some of that and with the added bonus of return skills. I never want to see Sanders return another punt this year. Hated seeing him back there. All I wanted was for him to fair catch every single punt even if he had room to operate.

I have realized two things, 1 I am an idiot and 2 I was thinking of La'Michael James

I actually figured you might have meant LaMichael James, who actually went before Hillman in the draft, but you're not an idiot. :)

When I look at the WR class this year, I see the top 8-10 or so who should be decent #2 WR's, not a lot of depth, and then one guy in Carroo who could be a hall of famer. ;)

I was really surprised when Lawler went rd 7 and Addison undrafted because overall it was a weak WR class for a position that is normally loaded. I do think the top 8-10 guys we saw could be pretty good #2 WR's though, but not many 1's out of this class at all.

After the top 8-10 it really fell, and not many guys I'd call "PRO BOWL"

I think Shep and Boyd got themselves into perfect situations though with the Giants and Bengals.

That is my problem though in the sense of in the 1st round I am not looking for a #2 WR. If I am drafting a guy at that position I want to think he can become a true #1 that I look to. #2 guys can be found throughout the draft. I'm also not big on taking specialist in the sense of a guy like Fuller at least from what I have watched is mostly just a deep threat. His hands don't allow him to be much more than that. I thought that was one of the worst picks in the 1st round. Docston made much more sense to me for the Texans as he can do it all and would be a very nice compliment to Hopkins.

I think the Fuller WR pick bothered me the most. Fuller can be a nice WR in this league, but with Hopkins being the clear #1, I just didn't see it as the best compliment WR to him in the world. I agree Doctson or even Treadwell there made sense. I wonder if Houston is pretty down on Jaelen Strong as well after they also drafted Braxton Miller.

I like Corey Coleman a lot. The problem with him is he is going to be expected to be a #1 right from the start with no real legit QB unless RG3 turns it around and really I think he would be a great #2, but I think he may not reach expectations as a #1 in Cleveland. There are other places he could probably swing it at a #2, now if you get a good run game and QB in Cleveland and 1 or 2 of the other 5 WR's they selected compliment him well then he could probably make it as a #1. But in reality not all teams really need a "GO TO WR" if you have multiple WR's around your guys.

In other words Coleman could be a #1 if the other guys around him are putting up similar numbers and you aren't expecting him to catch 100 passes a season.

I agree. I honestly do think Miller could just as easily be the #2 guy in Houston as that of Fuller. He at least offers a bit more beyond just being a deep threat. Both of those guys though were a bit of a head scratcher to me. They are both developmental projects that I just don't see that great of a fit. You are right Doctson or Treadwell make much more sense in that #2 spot. Have to see how that goes.

I was really surprised at Houston this draft.

Knowing they needed a WR I expected Coleman or Doctson for sure if they went that way in route 1. Then after taking Fuller with Strong there as well (3rd rounder last year) I thought to myself well now Carroo won't end up a Texan (as they showed the most draft love for him in the process), then in round 3 they took Braxton Miller to pair up with Hopkins, Fuller and Strong..

Then boom, Miami trades up to the pick after Houston and I thought to myself could this be Carroo's time?

My guess is Miami wanted Miller or Carroo and once Miller went they jumped on a trade up not to lose on both.

Makes sense. Yeah that again baffled me after taking a big time speed guy like Fuller it would make sense if you are going to take another WR to then take a guy that is more of an All-Around WR like Carroo. Instead they take a very raw Miller known for his speed and break tackle ability. I mean don't get me wrong Houston is probably going to have some of the best explosive plays in the entire league this next year. I just don't see them though being a consistent threat between the 20's to move the ball down the field little by little. If I were a defense playing them I would dare them to have to throw underneath and work slowly down the field waiting for them to make a mistake. Don't give them the deep ball. Also not sure why you go and get deep threats when the deep ball was Osweiler's probably biggest issue this past year. Other than the NE game I don't think he hit another deep ball the entire year.

Same thoughts CD. Houston has some nice WR's and all, but not sure they have the right "pair"

Now if Jalen Strong turns into that big time, big body threat at WR in the RZ, watch out. Just didn't make al ot of sense to grab Miller if you're high enough on Strong. Miller would be your 4th WR, and yeah he needs a year or two to kick start at WR, but Hopkins, Fuller and Strong aren't going anywhere for awhile at least in terms of Free Agency. So my thoughts right away were, This team isn't high on Strong to grab 2 Wr's in the first 3 rounds with Hopkins a an elite NFL WR, and 2. They have some similar WR's there.

Imagine Hopkins with a good QB though (If Osweiler is good) I mean the guy exploded with Hoyer as his QB even.

Oh I think Hopkins is a top-3 WR and honestly say you put him on the Steelers in place of Antonio Brown I think he emerges as easily the best WR in the NFL right now. I mean that guy makes everything look easy. And I agree that this does not look good for Strong when the team invests so much draft capital in your position. Going to have to see how they all work together. The Texans though definitely showed they are very invested in Osweiler doing well.

Man!! Look at the numbers Hopkins put up with different qbs, double teams because he was basically the only wr threat they had since he's been there. That guy has just blown me away with what he's been able to accomplish so far. I would put him over Brown mainly for the fact that Brown had some wr talent around him that D's had to account for as well. Hopkins had nobody and no Big Ben throwing to him. IMO,of course.

I remember reading somewhere that Denver liked both Hillman and James and they did what you believe Miami did. I had really wanted them to take La'Michael so it was a bummer

Seriously? I had no idea! What did Alfred say yesterday - and was that part of the reason he chose to sign here?

Hopefully CEH can fill you in on what he said. Living Iowa I don't have access to Alfred Williams, or maybe he has a pocast that if I looked hard enough I could find.

I know Addison had offers from Seattle, NY Jets and Colts among a few others I believe. I wanna say the Vikings, 49ers and Falcons as well, but I can't remember exactly the other ones.

I really expected him to end up signing with the 9ers the team I figured would draft him with Chip Kelly being there. Although he would have only coached Addison for his TRUE FR season.

Not sure how much impact Alfred had on him signing, but I would imagine between our opening at return man and Alfred playing their, those factors probably led to that decision.

You can find his podcast online. It is 104.3 the fan. I've been listening to it a little here and there throughout yesterday and today when I have had time. So far he hasn't mentioned anything about the family connection. I'm only half way through yesterday's podcast though.
