WVU Headed to Louisville Regional - West Virginia University Athletics
Heading to the Louisville Regional as an 8 seed.
This is an amazing story! This program was brought to life in '14 by the greatest AD WVU has ever had... Oliver Luck... when he hired Sean Covich to be the program's HC.
Golf was shut down at WVU after the '82 season. I was very close to the WVU golf program back then, and can honestly say it was not close to being on a level this team has attained. The '82 team was composed of regional talent... but not elite talent. WVU wasn't even the best golf program in the state. That belonged to Marshall. WVU wasn't even the 2nd best team in the state. That belonged to D&E College.
Today, Coach Covich has built a nationally ranked team composed of nationally ranked amateurs from the southeast... Quebec and Ontario.
They have zero facilities. Play and practice requires use of resorts and private clubs within an hour's drive.
Truly amazing...
