so Im thinking what it would take to pry Doughty from the Kings? and I would love to hear what the board members would give up (realistically) from your team to get him. for me its

Alex Edler, Cody Hodgson and a 1st round pick (2012) and 2nd round pick (2013)

for

Drew Doughty and 2nd round pick (2012)

(would love to hear if you had a trade idea from another team as well)

(this is because there are NO good rumours going on that are realistic to quench my thirst for trade talk)

i dont consider giving up on him if you got a Doughty back. our forwards are really good and will be for a few years.

The value of that proposal seems about right.

I doubt either team makes that move though.

LA: They could probably get a similar or more lucrative package for Doughty from an Eastern team.

VAN: Seems like a lot to give up for an upgrade on D that just isn't that much. The Canucks don't need a huge minute eater on the blueline with their depth. Doughty would also FUBAR the Canucks salary structure, IMO.

Personally? If I'm Dean Lombardi, I take this and run. I'm a big Edler fan and he comes cheaper than Doughty, who has raised eyebrows in training camp for 2 straight seasons... for all the wrong reasons.

If I'm Gillis I hold onto Edler and keep those other assets. Or I try to trade Hodgson and a 1st for a bona fide top 6 forward.

I don't think that would get it done.

If I were Garth Snow I'd offer Mark Streit, Frans Nielsen & Blake Comeau for Doughty & a 3rd round pick in 2012.

Streit would take the place of Doughty & is signed for 2 years at 4.1 million.

Nielsen will be an UFA at the end of the season. However, his salary for this season is only 550K. That's cheap for a guy who led the league last season in shorthanded goals (6) & finished 6th in Selke voting. He'd be the perfect 3rd line center on a contending Kings team. I'm sure an extension could be worked out.

Comeau scored 24 goals last year & is slated to make 2.5 million this season. He will be an RFA again after the season. So he's already locked in even if a long term deal can't be worked out. With Dustin Penner set to become an UFA having Comeau as insurance would be a solid move for the Kings.

The Kings are a contender. That's why my offer is for roster players not picks & prospects. The Kings want to win NOW.
