Get your facts straight, he was only 174 years old.

Trojan always exaggerating to give the Lakers a pass. He was 173 and turned 174 during the playoffs.

The answer is no. Those mid 90s Lakers were a lost cause. By the time Kobe/Shaq came along and got good enough to compete Barkley was long gone.

Shaq and Kobe came to the Lakers in 1996. Barkley played for the Rockets from 1996-2000. So yes, had he gone to the Lakers, he may very well have won a title.

Two things: Scottie was wildly overrated and Sir Charles was never a killer. He never made the team he was on.

Off topic...

What do you think about Trey Burke?

I find it odd that the Jazz have given up on him already and decided that Exum is the starting pg.

Don't get me wrong, Dante is gonna be a stud.

But, he looks to be like 2 Seasons away....

Do you consider Trey a longtime Starter?

Looks like he can be had...should the Lakers take a swing?

I like him. I haven't followed too closely, but I think with the Jazz, it's less that they've given up on Burke and more about how good Exum projects to be. Very much like when the Lakers took Kobe even though they had Eddie Jones.

I would have no issue with the Lakers getting Burke. He'd be the best PG they've had since Van Exel and could be had for a lot less than the PG's that the they've been rumored about going after like Dragic or Rondo.

The year the Suns went to the championship they were the best team in the NBA, hands down. If he couldn't win a title with that team I'm not sure what he could have ever done to win one. If he had been traded to the Bulls, MJ would probably have LESS rings!

Now put Barkley on the Knicks...

I don't think that Barkley was ever close to going there, but Karl Malone almost did sometime in the early-90's. There was a trade on the table that was going to send Charles Oakley to the Jazz for the Mailman. The GM's approved it, but Larry Miller, the Utah owner, stopped it.

Imagine if the 93 Knicks kept Mark Jackson (the PG on the only two teams [92 Knicks and 98 Pacers] to take the Bulls to seven in their 6 title years), got Malone, and drafted Latrell Sprewell in 92 instead of Hubert Davis (it also would have been nice to keep McDaniel if they could have because he liked to harass Pippen). Chicago may not have won six titles.

Also, imagine Barkley on a 92 Laker team with a Magic Johnson that doesn't retire due to HIV.

Unless that Lakers team made some other moves along with trading for Barkley, he likely only improves them enough to maybe get a 5 seed, so his best chance vs. those MJ Bulls was with the Suns.

Now, if they had gotten him about 3 years later when they got Shaq and Kobe................

Charles would have been a good role player in lieu of Samaki Walker that year, but then you're changing the formula that won three titles

Holy crap I had no idea Barkley held on until 2000. I thought he left the league like 97/98. I had to look that up. Granted he only played 20 games in 2000, but a ring is a ring. I'd rather get a ring while not contributing and hurt than never have a ring at all.

Especially with the way Kenny Smith, Shaq, etc. give him crap about it from time to time. I heard that once when Magic was a guest on NBA on TNT, he and Kenny Smith put a "Champions Only" sign on the door of where they hang out when not on the air and wouldn't let him in.

Scottie...he was no MJ, but I disagree about wildly overrated...he never won one w/o MJ, but MJ got zero rings w/o him also.

Charles imo after Doc and Moses left, he was never on a team good enough to take it all. Losing to BOS his rookie year in the conf finals was a huge disappointment in Philly...the PHX teams were good, not great.

The Bulls won because of MJ and Phil, not Pippen. If neither played for Jackson, I am not sure if they win as many rings.

As for the Suns, I agree that they were good, but if they would have made the Rodman for Richard Dumas trade in the Fall of 93 that they almost did, I can see the Chuck Wagon getting a ring or two.

I won't dispute that, but the fact remains...MJ needed a player to take some of the burden off him and Pippen was that guy...the perfect complement to MJ.

1st off.. Jordan and the Bulls weren't unbeatable. I saw them lose. I remember the Pistons.

That 8 year stretch from 90-91 to 97-98 they were .750. That is pretty close to unbeatable in basketball.

Honest question here. Has anyone had a winning clip like that over 8 years? I don't know but I bet a fan of a team that has would know.

Haven't looked, but I'd bet the 80's Lakers and Celtics were pretty close. Maybe the 80's Sixers as well?

80's Sixers didn't have the longevity to go 8 years.
Bulls regular season win % 0.747 90-91 to 97-98
Lakers regular season win % 0.736 32-83 to 89-90
Celtics regular season win % 0.751 79-80 to 86-87
