Just read that pending a physical Jerel Worthy is being sent to the patriots. Quite surprised by this move.

I'm not really surprised I guess. Maybe a little, but not too much.

The d-line is a crowded position right now, guys who can't get on the field are at a distinct disadvantage. That said, I'm all for giving guys second and even third chances, and I don't know if he really ever got his. I was excited when he was drafted, but maybe the reality is that he turned out to be a bad 3-4 DE fit. I actually saw him a couple weeks ago, he's a huge man. I can't imagine back surgery is easy to recover from, much less for a man his size. This may have been the Packers saying "We're not messing around with this back injury stuff."

So... that means a draft pick based on how well Worthy does for the Patriots this season? If he has a bad year, we get a 7th round pick? If he has a good year, we get a 3rd round pick?

I was pretty excited when we picked him. High motor, seems to have a good attitude and moves with a lot of power. Or so I thought. I know our Dline is kind of crowded right now so something is better than nothing because some of those guys are getting cut at some point. I always thought once fully healed again he had a pretty decent ceiling, but maybe other young guys are showing more?

On a related note, I heard that Datone was carted off practice yesterday. Radio report, but never heard anything after? anything? I suppose I could go google

i can't find a thing on it. I was driving to work and listening to sports radio and they mentioned it briefly and were going to get back to it, but by then I was at work. I guess if nobody else is picking it up, it must not have been much?

I haven't heard that. I believe he was at practice today and was a participant so I'm guessing he's ok
