Yeah I like him best as a 3rd catcher but if he can handlle duties as a second catcher and play some 1B that has value.
Just concerned re his swing and miss like many were of Gallo despite OPS

To me it will be interesting who all we keep to protect from Rule 5. This means to me that we may need to trade a few
I think we add the following to the 40-man.

Justin Foscue
Blaine Crim
Dane Acker
Antoine Kelly

That still leaves room for 3 free agents, I believe.

Then there are guys like Martin, Latz, and Bush that most likely will be gone, I would think. Maybe Burke and Rodriguez as well.

They could even add Corniell and Wendzel to the roster and not hurt for space.

3 of them are free agents (w. smith, Chapman &Hedges) they’re gone already. The Rangers have already said goodbye.
For some reason Hedges still shows on the 40-man for the Rangers. That must be a glitch of some kind.

Yea and we may end up waiting on some FA signings until after rule 5. Thinking a back up catcher if needed. Don’t think we keep Garver

Think Josh Smith is headed to Dominican league for winter ball. He needs some winter ball work
Will be keeping an eye on him
I didn't see that? Do you know if he will begin this week?

From Jeff Wilson:

Shohei Ohtani, arguably the biggest free agent ever, has three favorites, according to the New York Post: the Dodgers, the Giants and the Rangers.

Let the circus begin.

The Rangers’ place in Ohtani’s top three, if accurate, shouldn’t come as a surprise. They were one of the finalists to sign him when he came from Japan, he crushes the ball at Globe Life Field and he wants to win. The Rangers just won it all, and he had an up-close view.

The question becomes if the Rangers want Ohtani (of course, they want him) and how much they are willing to pay (that’s tricky). Most expect Ohtani to bag $500 million even though the two-way player will be only a one-way player in 2024 as he recovers from Tommy John surgery.

For those scoring at home, that’s Tommy John No. 2 for Ohtani since he came to the majors in 2018.

Ohtani will turn 30 in July, so he’s not as young as Corey Seager was when he hit free agency. The Rangers have to ask themselves how much longer will Ohtani continue as a two-way player and if they want to be playing a mid- and late-30s Ohtani $50 million a year just to be a designated hitter.

And it’s not like the team he signed with, the Angels, even came close to a postseason berth with him.

The list of considerations doesn’t stop there. It won’t be an easy decision to pursue Ohtani or to tell him no thanks.

The rumor mill, though, will be swirling.
It's a rather risky move for sure. I would love having him on the team but that is a lot of money that could handcuff us for a long time.

Oh, okay. As far as what I expect from them, it probably goes Eovaldi, Dunning and then Bradford. I am really glad we have all three and hope we keep them around for a while.

Yeah, I am fine without him. If they could get him to come for the price of the best DH, with incentives that kick in when he starts pitching again, then I would be more inclined to want it to happen.

Won WS without him. Can do it again.

Check his wife’s IG if you have that
Maybe he will be teammates with Blaine Crim. Crim is off to a very slow start down there.

That would be great if they hired Wash. Typical Angels blunder. Lol
