who do you want as our second baseman ? to me it would make since to go with schoop and let alex gonzo be our utilty guy . that move would let both weeks and ryan both play everyday at Norfolk . alex is a vet can play all postions on the infield . I can't see us not playing manny , davis , jj and schoop everyday . Norfolk is only a phone call away . I do understand that ryan is a better ut guy over alex .

Buck goes with Flaherty and Schoop goes down. Weeks is the UT guy for now and Casilla is released.

I'd like to see Schoop but I really think the O's are set on having him play more at Norfolk. With that said, it would be a battle between Flaherty and Weeks. Flaherty hitting well, but Weeks has the speed. Maybe we go with Weeks and let Ryan play more at AAA.

If im thinking like a manager here and not a fan then I'm going with Flaherty based on experience. You then have Schoop and Weeks in the fold if he should falter.

While I agree that this will happen, Schoop has earned the nod to date. That may change over the next few weeks but I don't think anyone can argue he hasn't. :noidea:

I like ryans D and his bat will get better . the thing is do they delay schoop clock by waiting until mid june ? that is what I think will decide it in the end . schoop has the upside and has done everything to take it from all others . great job schoop !!!!

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Orioles, Rays, and Mets are all talking to the Mariners about a trade for infielder Nick Franklin.
Franklin could play second base for the Orioles and Rays, while the Mets are scouting him as a shortstop. The 23-year-old has played well this spring in hopes of winning the starting shortstop job, but Brad Miller remains the heavy favorite for the gig. With Robinson Cano installed as the starting second baseman over the winter, Franklin is expendable if the right offer comes along.

What do we need Franklin for? Imagine Manny at SS, Schoop at 3B and 23 year old Franklin at 2B. Granted, it doesn't look like much now but, these guys are young, have high ceilings and could be our core for years to come. If we can get Franklin via trade then you have to pull the trigger. Question is, what would it take to get him? Most likely a guy like Britton. The Mariners would love a LHP to add to their rotation.
