... if everybody were the same size and athleticism?

Let's say for argument's sake every player was reduced to 6'0" and 175 pounds with good but not crazy athleticism.

Who would be the best player?

Curry most skilled IMO, so that is the answer.

Lillard and Harden are close. Trae Young is another sleeper because he is a well below average NBA athlete with a terrific skill set.

What do you think about Buddy Hield?

The other three were my next three after Curry. Steph and Harden seem like they'd be affected the least, with a nice bump for not being undersized anymore.

He is good, but lacks the ability to create off the dribble that an elite PG has.

It is that skill along with the shooting that sets these guys apart for me.

Would that make the GOAT argument swing into the favor of Allen Iverson?

No.

He was an athletic freak. Just small.

Guys like Curry, Bird, Nash who were relatively unathletic would benefit a lot more.

lol

We really need the season to re-start.

Having said that...I'm going with me...I'm 6'2" 200. I'd be Shaq in that league.

I agree Steph likely wins it. Kyrie might have an argument but that's based on the assumption that you think he's better than Steph now. I think Dame is a little more athletic than those guys.

Although he's out of his prime, I'd make an argument for Chris Paul. Since his height disadvantage would be wiped out. And he's a better passer than all those guys, could get his shot off easier, etc.

Reggie Miller would be a killer in this scenario too.

John Stockton already played in this scenario and became a HFer doing so.

Not really.

Great shooter, but again, didn’t do much off the bounce.

Not saying he wouldn’t be great, but you need to have the handles to be able to use the athleticism to get to the rim.

Skill wise Kyrie?

Yes.

Mental game hell no.

Mental aspects of the game are a skill. Puts him well behind a lot of the other highly skilled guards previously mentioned.

Speaking of, Uncle Drew was on 1 of the Turner channels last night. Finally watched it. I found it hilarious to see Kyrie preaching about “playing the game the right way”.

Really funny to me.

That and when he reminded Webber not to call a timeout.

You think automatically to say a guy that is a lights out shooter, can still finish, greater passer...essentially a PG. That is impossible to say bc if some players were a different size they would have worked on being a better shooter or make that a bigger part of their game...if all players were 6'8" do you really think Steph would have critiqued his game to be less physical and more of a shooter? No.

Then though impossible to say but for argument for the thread....

My top 3 in no order
Steph Curry
Damian Lillard
Luka Doncic

Honorable mention:
Kyrie (mentally not there)
Lebron James
Anthony Davis

I agree if mental wasn't part of this but it still is. Kyrie is fucked in every scenario. Maybe if we transport back in time and Kyrie doesn't go loco but I think he's always been this way he just wasn't as vocal in the past.

Who is the superior athlete?

Curry or Kyrie?

It is close in terms of size and speed, but I believe Kyrie is stronger and therefor a slightly better athlete.

Who is the better player?

Curry and it isn’t close.

So Curry has the better overall skill set and mental game. He is better than Kyrie now and would definitely be better than Kyrie if they had equal athleticism.
