I didnt even think of it when bchl announced they were cutting ties with hockey canada. It is what hockey canada does though.

This non compete policy exists in minor hockey and has for some time since Alberta started their renegade leagues for kids. And every year the email gets sent out to parents who have kids that play hockey around the rules of playing in non sanctioned leagues like the HPL in the lower mainland. I bet a court challenge comes of this.

Its one thing to stop 10 year olds from playing in multiple leagues some of which dont have the same level of insurance as hockey canada quite another to stop an adult official from choosing where he wants to work and build his career

a name that was mentioned in the story was burt henderson. My son is playing spring hockey on a AA 2008 team and they went up against burts son jake (who is a AAA player - went to the bric this year) this weekend. I think we’ll hear this kids name again
