If you look at the peripherals UCLA would seem to be the better job.

At that point you have to ask why it is that UCLA has only won one national title, a split decision in 1954, while Florida has three.

I'd take the Florida job if offered both.

Florida is the “better job” generally speaking. It’s also a higher pressure job.

UCLA is probably the better lifestyle. Making several million a year in Westwood would be nice. Wives would definitely prefer it.

UCLA if you don't mind a dilapidated off campus stadium that's never at full capacity not to mention a practice field that isn't even a full 100 yards long. In fact I don't believe UCLA has an athletes cafeteria that's on campus.

Florida pays their coach more.
Florida pays their assistants a lot more.

You can go to UCLA but if you can't get the best talented assistants to come with you because you can't pay them, then it has fail written all over it.

Percentage is not a good way to look at it, when Cali has double the students Florida have.
It's also important to note that California is a huge state, Florida is a relatively small state. It's very easy for both teams and players to get exposed to the schools there. Not to mention the proximity UCLA has to other major schools. At least in Florida, they're a little more spread out.

Relatively small compared to what? The only states with more people are California and Texas. Geographically the recruits are more concentrated in Cali too.

You forgot to add the Bruins play at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena which is a 30 min. drive from campus.

There are a lot of stadiums that are a 30 min drive from the Athletic Facilities on game day.

Florida has had a lot more success in the past thirty years than UCLA. Florida would be quicker to fire a coach, sure, but it isn't like UCLA is full of patience, either. Mora had UCLA finish in the Top 10 in the polls in 2014, and he's gone three years later.
He didn't do shit in 6 years. He played for the conference championship once (a 9-5 year, when the Pac south was ridiculously down), his first year. His team put together two 10 win years, and is now coming off 2 losing seasons. When you actually look at Mora's time at UCLA, that one top 10 finish isn't all that impressive, and he had more than enough time to at least not be on the decline in his final years.

Florida ranks 22nd in the US in terms of area. So it's small in comparison to California which ranks 3rd.

22nd in land mass and top 3 in population. Not to mention that traveling tip to tip in Florida is about 835 miles compared to 770 in California

Beyond the quality of life aspect everyone is mentioning, obviously most would enjoy life with a multimillion salary in that area, don't forget recent Florida coaches all seem to lose their mind. Urbs couldn't even sustain success there, and wanted to kill himself by the end of it. This last guy was faking death threats and the naked shark thing to try to cope... how is this even something that needs any thought?

Not criticizing the decision to fire Mora. Just pointing out that while the leash at Florida is tighter, UCLA doesn't exactly have the longest leash, either.

I think UCLA is a decent job, and they've underachieved for the most part since 1990. Still don't think the job compares to Florida. The success Florida has had since 1990 speaks for itself, and they're willing to open the checkbook. UCLA has a reputation of being cheap, not sure if that reputation is deserved or not.
