The title is about players. I take that to mean participating in a sport. Not exhibitions that the Olympic committee has deemed an event in order to make money.

I'm sure there are dominant rhythm gymanstic gymanists or sychronized water ballet (or whatever they call it) swimmers but no one cares because they aren't sports. Sports are were athletes or teams score points or race to beat someone's time for the most part. Not were you get scored by a panel of partial/impartial judges IMO.

The Wes Welker suggestion is hilarious, certainly not even in the top ten in that period at his position (which is in itself vastly less important than quarterback), but Crosby certainly merits consideration for this list, I'll give you that.
