this thread will be nothing more than people being homers and voting for their team to win it all... with that being said Arizona.

number one ranked transfer in the nation with McConnell, Aaron Gordon who will likely end up a top 5 pick, Nick Johnson who's one of the most complete players in college basketball, Ashley and Zeus down low. A 5 star off the bench with some good shooters... that's why.

Maybe the best Q should have been "other than your fav team?" I will openly state that I don't think Duke can win it all. They have the horses. But they lack size and will play small ball all year. And they are prone to injury to key players. I believe you must be 8 or 9 deep and they just aren't. That said, I believe that Arizona is in fact loaded. But I believe Michigan and Kansas are as good a picks as anybody. See, I'm no homer you bunch of HOMERS.

My case for Memphis being National Champions.

1. Four senior guards

Joe Jackson - TN Mr. Basketball, McD's AA, CUSA tourney 2x MVP, CUSA POY. Went 13.6 points, 4.8 assists, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.7 steals per game last year on a 31-5 season. He will be unstoppable this year. A blur.

Chris Crawford - CUSA tourney MVP and 6th man of the year last year. Went 10.4 points, 3.2 assists, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game last year on a 31-5 season. Will be consistent from three. No slumps.

Geron Johnson - Number 1 JUCO of his class. Went 10.4 points, 3.5 assists, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game last year on a 31-5 season. Defensive shut down specialist. Offensive threat. He could be a 1st rounder.

Michael Dixon - Sat out last year. 2011-2012 Big12 6th MOY and made the all defense team. Went 13.5 points, 1.8 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.2 steals on a 30-5 season that year. He is a question mark for me right now.

Look, these four dudes are all Top 40 CBB guards and one Top10 and at least two Top20 NCAA guards next season. Memphis back court is gonna problem, I'll do number two later.

Read em and weep.....SU's gonna lay the smack down. Ass whooppins for all ya'll.

Starting Five:

RAK. Center. 6-9. He better play well because there will be plenty of competition at the Center position.
2012 stats. 12.7 Minutes, 5.1 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.8 blocks.

Jerami Grant, Power Forward.
2012 stats. 14.3 minutes, 3.9 points, 3.0 rebounds and 0.5 blocks. He really came to play in the Final Four loss to Michigan snagging 7 boards over McGary and adding 4 point in 17 minutes of play.

C.J. Fair, 2012 stats. 34.9 minutes, 14.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.0 blocks and 1.1 steals. Unstopable.

Trevor Cooney, Shooting Guard. Despite his shooting struggles, TC provided a lot of solid defense and always played hard. I'm hoping he finds his stroke during the off season.
2012 stats. 11.2 minutes and 3.4 points per game.

Tyler Ennis, Point Guard. The 6'2, 5 star recruit is expect to have just as much ability and potential as any guard SU has had. 2012 stats at St. Benedicts Prep (NJ). 20.8 points, 6.1 assist, 5.1 rebounds and 3.1 steals. I'm sold.

Off the Bench:

Keita. 6-10 and has a motor that won't quit. I like Keita a bunch because he seems better in the big games. 2012 stats: 16.8 minutes, 3.7 points, 1.1 blocks and 3.6 rebounds. But in the Big East tournament he posted 8.3 points and 4.8 rebounds per game.

Coleman. 6-9, 288 pounds. Wow. Struggled in his first year. But I've see it forever at SU...the Bigs take a while to develop. 2012 stats: 12.7 minutes, 4.8 points and 4.0 rebounds.

Michael Gbinije, Guard/Forward. All I know is he is 6-7 and can handle the ball. He is a Duke transfer. Was a 5 star recruit. I expect him to push Cooney, Ennis and even Grant for PT. No stats for 2012 as he sat out last year.

Tyler Roberson, Small Forward. 6-8, 210 pound beast is SU most touted recruit in the 2013 class. There is so much depth on the baseline....I'm just not sure how he gets in the game. I don't see him redshirting though....and I expect to see him get minutes like Grant did in the 2012 season.
2012 stats at Roselle Catholic (NJ, 17.5 points, 11.7 rebounds and 3.3 blocks

Ron Patterson, Shooting Guard. Another one I know nothing of. He was highly recruited and committed to IU....went to school a little bit and left. I don't think he could handle the education requirements because he ended up enrolling at Brewster Academy (NH) before committing to SU.

B.J.Johnson. Yep...SU's got a Bad Johnson. At 6-7, he seems to be the prototypical Coach JB 2-3 zone player. Tall, lanky and athletic. I don't see him sniffing the court this year, but expect we will see him down the road a piece.

Chinonso Obokoh....pronounced Chee-No-so Oh-Bow-koh. That's all I know about him.

The 2013 - 2014 version of SU is so much like last years team. SU will lose a ton of scoring and will re-load. This is another one of those teams that is built to be sucessful during a tournament. I expect another mid season grind where the constent pounding wears them down and they drop some games. But come tournament time, thier length and bulk down low will give everyone fits. I expect a very deep run in the ACC and the NCAA tournamentss.

I think it's going to be a great year.

2. Sophomore jump

Damien Wilson - Saw spot minutes last year, will be seeing significant time on the wing this year. Went 1.7 points, 0.9 rebounds, 0.2 assists, and 0.2 steals in 4.7 minutes per game.

Shaq Goodwin - Showed flashes of greatness last year. Put in extra work this summer to get leaner and faster. He will be a monster. Went 7.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game last year. Could be a double double guy night in, night out.

3. Addition by subtraction

Chemistry was bad for the Tigers last year due to butthurt. The transfers of graduating Tarik Black to Kansas and Antonio Barton to Tennessee and departure of McD's AA Adonis Thomas will cure a lot of ills for team chemistry. Tarik was butthurt because Shaq was better than him and Antonio thought he should start over Joe Jackson. LOL. Adonis looked like he was scared to touch the ball in games. He also went undrafted. All three of these players had bad advice in there ears but I am, and I bet the team is, glad they are gone. You could see it in their faces, body language, Tarik quit at least four or five times over his career and so did Antonio and Adonis. Man up or puss on. They pussed on. Yay.

Side note: Every player that Pastner brought in in his first class graduated in three years. Every. Player. That's six guys.

4. Transfers

To replace out going Black and Bartob, we got two guys that were batter than them to begin with in David Pellom and Mike Dixon, jr., so fuck them. Plus a last minute pick up in big man, 6'10 300lb Dominic Woodson.

5. Incoming class

The number two class in the country behind Kentucky with Austin Nichols, Kuran Iverson, Nick King, Markel Crawford, Pookie Powell, and Dominic Woodson. Pookie didn't qualify to play but can practice. Freshman redshirt will gain much needed experienxe practicing with four strong senior guards. Expect Austin, Nick, and Kuran to have instant impact.

LMAO. Quicker than Joe Jackson? Memphis has the fastest backcourt in the nation.

Jahii Carson and Calaen Robinson are faster, but it will be Jahii and Jermaine Marshall as the starters, but when Jahii and Calaen are in there is no one faster.

Memphis has an unbelievable class and they got in my opinion a top 15 pick in the nba draft eventually Michael Dixon Jr the kid is an insane scorer and has amazing speed.

Went looking for video of Joe and remembered how much I am going to miss seeing this ... Every time he was on the court he dunked anything that came off the rim since he was a freshman. Needed more minutes sooner. One of the few mistakes Pastner has made.
