It certainly is better than paying JR Sweezy $6.5 million a year! Crazy!
YEAR BASE SIGNING BONUS CAP HIT DEAD CAP
2016 $800,000 $1,833,333 - $2,633,333 $6,300,000
2017 $2,200,000 $1,833,333 - $4,033,333 $3,666,667
2018 $5,000,000 $1,833,334 - $6,833,334 $1,833,334
I can't find the contract details on this yet, but if it is structured similar to Lane's with a backloaded deal then it isn't too bad. Something like $3.5 million hit in the first year, $4.5 million in the second year, $5.5 million in the third year with a $1.5 million cap hit if he is cut in the third year is not too bad a deal.
It is a bit much for a #3 option but I will withhold judgement until we see the contract details though.
bl, you sure about that dead cap hit on year 1?YEAR BASE SIGNING BONUS CAP HIT DEAD CAP

That what over the cap says.
Then to me, that would mean his 1st year salary would be guaranteed. That what over the cap says.
Plus his second year. 2016 cap hit 2,63,333 2017 cap hit 4, 033,333Then to me, that would mean his 1st year salary would be guaranteed.
Looks to me like cutting him after 2016 just leaves us with the remainder of the $5.5M bonus as the dead money and no '17 base.Plus his second year. 2016 cap hit 2,63,333 2017 cap hit 4, 033,333
Pretty fair deal, happy it happened.Looks to me like cutting him after 2016 just leaves us with the remainder of the $5.5M bonus as the dead money and no '17 base.
Anyhow, seems like a pretty fair set of numbers to me. As has been pointed out, it has the looks of a 2 year deal that isn't very costly. That 3rd year really drives up the aav.
