Georgia 12-1 - only loss to Auburn in regular season
Auburn 12-1 - only loss to Georgia in the SEC title game
Alabama 11-1 - only loss was to Auburn
Oklahoma - 13-0
Ohio State 13-0
Clemson 13-0

What's happening and who's out?
OSU
Clemson
Oklahoma
UGA - though maybe Auburn if Auburn crushed them and lost on a fluke

I'm thinking in this scenario the playoff committee has to put all 4 champs in otherwise their credibility will be shit.

So bama and burn are out.

It’s not a serious question, no undefeated P5 champ is being left out in favor of 1 loss conference champion, much less a non conference champion. There’s no question Georgia gets in over Auburn and Alabama in that scenario. Just more paranoia about the SEC.
Since this is scenario village, let's say Arizona happened to run the table in a real, real weak PAC 12 where the other teams cannibalized each other. The next closest team to Zona had at least 4 losses, three of which were conference ones. And Zona's OOC consisted of Cal Poly, UC Davis and Southern Utah. Does that undefeated PAC 12 conference champion deserve to be in?

Change OSU, OU and Clemson to Minnesota , K State and Wake and my answer might be different as I believe name recognition is real in the playoff committees decision making but OSU , OU and Clemson aren't going unbeaten and not getting in

So if Oregon runs the table and is 12-1 only loss to Auburn are they even considered since you know those other teams are with the same loss? if Oregon's only loss was what it was but say Auburn houses UGA and or Bama in their losses is it different?

.

Well three undefeated are all givens. Georgia would have the same loss against Auburn but also a win over Auburn and a much stronger SoS than Oregon. So Georgia gets the nod.

Well as you can see in my "scenario" you have 3 power 5 conference champions undefeated and then 3 1 loss sec teams one of which is the conference champion.

Do you really think a 1 loss pac 12 champion is in the discussion? Be honest sir.

It would never happen unless the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit got involved and, Mark, we both know they could royally fuck up the whole college football playoff system with another one of their inane rulings (that keep getting overturned). An off the wall judge in Hawaii or someplace could issue a restraining order and then the 9th Circuit would step in. All this would take is about 10 days. That is the horror story that would launch the push for an 8 team playoff like a Saturn V rocket.

In that secario, which really isn’t that far fetched, UGA and the 3 undefeated teams get in

Does an undefeated conference champion indicate a team is really, really good? Or does it indicate the overall conference isn't? Or both? Or neither?

Should a one loss conference runner up that played in a very good/deep conference and played a demanding OOC schedule be elbowed out by an undefeated conference champion that played in a very weak/shallow conference and a crappy OOC schedule? That's an anti incentive for scheduling good OOC games.

And all that is JUST MY WORTHLESS OPINION!

Wood watch
It might be worth tanking just to make it happen, might have 2 or 3 losses anyway, our defense isn’t championship caliber, our offensive line needs a lot of improvement, and our kicking game sucks. Might have to get a lot better just to get a chance to play the mighty Trash Pandas.

Well OOC scheduling has little to do with this. Clemson scheduled tough. Alabama scheduled absolute trash in their non conference schedule. We have no idea what happens in the PAC based on give information.

Too Funny: Clemson scheduled Texas A&M and South Carolina from Alabama's Conference + Charlotte + Wofford. Alabama has already beaten @ South Carolina handily, and play @ A&M is in a few weeks. Charlotte and Wofford (Ha and Ha!). Yes, Clemson plays 1 more FBS OOC team (Texas A&M and South Carolina) than Alabama (Duke), but Clemson scheduled "Tough", and Alabama's OOC schedule is "Trash". Right! They are both easy, and both teams would and should have no problem with any of the teams.

What do you think is the easier OOC line up?

Texas AM, South Carolina, Wofford, and Charlotte
Or
Duke, New Mexico State, SMU, and Western Carolina.

Alabama made absolutely no attempt to play any team with a pulse this year and they didn’t last year either. Texas AM was a ranked team. Who scheduled tough in your opinion then. It sure as fuck wasn’t any team from the Big12, and most other conferences since if you aren’t scheduling 2 ranked opponents then it’s a cake walk schedule in your opinion.

It depends on what you think the Playoffs are for.

1. To find the best team in the nation.

or

2. Putting in the 4 best teams.

It's obviously #1, and it isn't the responsibility of the rest of the country to determine the best team in the SEC, that's the SEC's job.

So, in your scenario:
Georgia
Oklahoma
Ohio State
Clemson

thank you, it drove me crazy when people were arguing for Georgia because they "aren't as good as bama but are probably one of the best 4 teams".
