Figure this could be a thread for trade deadline rumors and various ideas you have for the deadline.

Honestly, I don't want Jack Z to do anything. I don't think he's going to be the GM next year so I don't want him to have the ability to pull a Bavasi. He already traded some trade pieces to get a redundant player in Trumbo.

Keep our young guys because Jack Z could be desperate by the deadline and start trading our young guys/farm system away...

Paxton, Walker need to stay on the team... He better not trade them off this year... Let the new Gm determine what kind of team he's going to build and utilize our young guys/farm system to bring his guys in...

ya, but who is going to stop him? Lincoln? Mathers? doubt it because if they were that worried they would have canned him already.

We won't sell and we would be stupid to buy. I don't trust Z to do either anyway.

Realistically I would like to see another catching option brought in. In June Zunino is 4 for 52 with no extra base hits. Dude is over his skis obviously. The part about the Trumbo trade not being talked about was trading away Castillo who has an OPS of over .800 in AZ. Small sample size yes but he was decent enough to push Zunino to a backup role or Tacoma if necessary. I think that's something that needs to be addressed urgently IMO

I identify our team as a seller, not a buyer. There is simply not enough offense to compete and the bullpen is too inconsistent. The strength of the team this year is starting pitching. At least, that is the strength right now.

There are certain players I would not want Jack empowerred to make a decision on. those who come immideiately to mind are: Seager, Cruz, Hernandez, Walker, Paxson, Ketel Marte, Carson Smith, Elias, Montgomery, Furbush. I'm sure there is more but I don't want to do a complete inventory to create a complete list.

Players that i don't mind him trading or trade negotiating: Happ, Morrison, Miller, Zunino, Austin Jackson, Seth Smith, Trumbo, Iwakuma, Jones, Bloomquist, Sucre, Wilhelmsen, Farquar, Lowe, Beimel, Nuno

And then there is Robby Cano. Right now, if he could get 75 cents on the dollar for Cano, I'd jump all over that. In other words, if you could find a team that would assume $150+ million of the $204 million remaining on his contract, you have to do it. Anything less and you have tred carefully and expect a halfway decent prospect or MLB player in return.

Zunino was actually starting to hit better after Castillo arrived. When Castillo got traded, Zunino went right back in the tank again.

Batting average before Castillo arrived - .173
Batting average while Castillo was here - .217
Batting average since Castillo left - .083

Predict all you want, but that move to hire Edgar as hitting coach is probably as good as it's going to get. Nothing against the best DH the Majors have ever had, but I think this might be just one of those moves that Jack and the FO would HAVE to make just to make it look to the media like they're actually doing something to help the team.

What happens from there, well, might not be much. So many useless players to choose from, but who would want them? And much as I'd like to see this club sold to someone who actually gives a damn about performance, that, I'm afraid, will be a pipe dream for years to come.

So, what happens before the deadline? They'll just sit on their asses looking for other ways to force the team into tanking for the next few seasons, then do some other publicity stunt.

Problem they have this year, as most years, they aren't set up to be either sellers or buyers. Felix is the only guy who could net something that could possibly help in the future and they don't have the cant miss prospect that can net them someone who can make them WS caliber.

I've defended Jack Z because he inherited such a mess when he came here... But something should a happened by now with our offense, This team just has ZERO consistency... Our O has sucked for 15 years now...

But he also inherited top draft positions and did zip with them.

in 12 at bats, dude is constantly hurt
So what's the point in keeping him in Tacoma, he obviously doesn't belong there. Shit or get off the pot with him.

Nope, too good for this team.

Can't have anyone setting a precedent with an average like that.

Other than the bust draft picks (which i believe we called them up way to early which led to their downfall) I really cant put all the blame on him these players need to own up to their mediocrity. Jack has nothing to do with Cano hitting like a bum and rodney pitching duds. I mean he put together a lineup with jackson, cano, cruz, seager, and trumbo thats 4 players that have made the all star team thats impressive IMO not really his fault they cant score runs

100% his fault. You build a house, it collapses do you blame the wood? These players are what they are so how is that their fault? Just because we expect more from them doesn't mean they have more to give. He bought trash at overinflated prices and expects they play to their salaries instead of their actual abilities.

Read the article on Jack I posted today via ESPN. They say it better.
