A suspension is NEVER good, but this could work out for the better. Welker's recovery is still a sensitive issue and 4 games (plus a bye week there) gives him essentially an additional 6 weeks to recover. Our offense will be just fine without him, and he may be a nice boost once he returns. This is still not nearly as bad as last year.

Weird. Of all the substances....I'd have never thought he'd get popped for something like that.

Funny and not funny. Not so long ago many were talking Weller could be looking at retirement after 3rd head bonkers in 10 months and nobody seemed to worried about Denver adjusting to life without Wes. Now he gets suspended for 4 games and Denver is in dire straights without him. They have known this was coming for some time now and sure they've been working on it. Blessings for Well to get more time to recover, and good for Latimore to get rookie of yr now.

LMAO. I wonder if Elway is trying to bring Timmie back to run the option attack?

What a dip. My thought was that Elway lets him go in FA and this is more reason to.

We had plenty of stupidity last year, too. Or did you forget about Von Miller?

This was almost surely to happen anyways. I think Latimer impresses early and works himself into a starting role. We can move Sanders back inside.

Just read an article this morning, and Welker is vehemently denying any wrong doing, or knowingly taking any sort of banned substance.

Look, I really do hope it comes out that he didn't do anything wrong, but time after time athletes deny taking anything "knowingly", and then come back weeks later saying "Oh, well I guess I need to be more aware of what I'm putting in my body"......blah, blah. We've seen this more times than I can count over the past 10 years or so. I'm hoping that's not the case here cause it makes them look incredibly foolish and irresponsible. You'd have to imagine the damn luck too, if it comes to be true. That kind of drug, from what I've come to learn passes through your system within' 5 days, so he must've gotten popped at the exact wrong time.

Must have been talking to Von Miller about public relations.

I look at this situation with 3 thoughts...

1) It just baffles me that these players can continue to find themselves in these kind of situations. I just don't even know what to say about these guys that keep doing this crap.

2) Why did the league wait till just a few days before the season starts to dish out this punishment? Seems like weird timing on their part to all of a sudden come out with this. Especially if they have known since May or whenever it happened. I know there is the appeals part of this all that is behind the scenes but they have had months upon months to get this worked out and all of a sudden a few days before the season starts they just come out with a 4-game suspension.

3) This might honestly have worked in the Broncos favor. Stay with me on this for a second...All of us have been worried about Welker and his recent concussion. Last year he came back way too fast from his concussion and it lead to a second even worse one that greatly diminished his play on the field. Maybe an extra 5 weeks to heal up his brain is the best thing that could happen for him and for this team. We need his skills for later in the season not the first quarter. Now yes it does stink to have him missing with these first few games being against playoff teams but I do think our WR depth is a lot better this year than last.

Well, this explains some of the behavior during the Kentucky Derby....

As for the timing, I'm sure it's just how the process worked out. I doubt there was anything intentional in the NFL's timing of the announcement.
