Preseason is over bros...ACC Play begins now.

The opponent:
Georgia Tech 3-0 (2-0 in ACC Play).
4th in the Nation in Rushing Yards
11th in the Nation in Points For
12th in the Nation in Points Against

Normally we like to have a bye week to give Bud and Co. time to prepare for GT's triple option...but this year we have 4 days oh and did I mention this game is Thursday Night!

This game is going to be very tough to win on a short week, following a triple overtime game, on the road..against a team that can actually throw the ball now and is playing good defense.

If there is any good thing I feel going into the game is that we have some good experience in the front 7 who has seen this offense (and played against it well) the last couple years.

I guess the biggest ?? is whether the offense can even score on PJs boys.

Beating the triple option hinges on stopping the dive play. Maddy and Skip were almost perfect in this last season. Williams and Baron need to spend a lot of time with these guys this week because if you stop the dive, you choke the offense. Tyler is key in this as well. It also would help to get a lead but with the offense this season, well.....

I didn't watch any of the GT-UNC game yesterday, but GT doubled UNC in TOP. It seems they absolutely wore down the D running nearly 85 plays. Another thing I found interesting was that they fumbled 4 times, but only lost 1. Weather could have a bit of a factor in that??

Their defense (at a glance) seems plenty good enough to shut down our pathetic offense. Here is where we are going to start seeing where Lefty has got as an OC. He knows what he is working with by now, he should know what should work and what will never work (ahem...inside running plays). The offense will have to sustain drives and keep the D fresh. I think the Lunchpail D can hold the fort down for awhile...but not if LT turns over the ball and have 3 and outs all night long. I am hoping that JC Coleman lights a fire into this team.

I didn't watch the UNC/GT game but I skimmed some comments somewhere and the impression I got was the refs really boned UNC several times so maybe GT isn't all that good. No idea if that's true but I'd consider it likely seeing just how terrible ACC officials have been this year. Point is I don't really know how good GT is or isn't. But its like someone said above, if we get down two scores, we're screwed anyway.

I watched some of the UNC-GT game and UNC was moving up and down the field early on them throwing the ball on seem routes. GT put the ball on the ground a lot but got lucky and recovered most.
