He signed with Denver. He's not our #1 WR but he was pretty solid.

67 Receptions for 700 yards and change and 6 TD's.

Replace through FA or the draft?

I wouldn't say "Lost" when PIT never even tried to resign him.

Not a big loss IMO... Just by looking at Sanders' stats, I think Wheaton can easily fill those shoes.

My vote is on the Steelers picking up a WR in the draft. But hard to say until the FA period is over.

Cotchery meets with the Panthers today... Could lose our WR3 on top of losing our WR2.

Not really worried about Jericho.

He's a step down from Sanders and he's getting long in the tooth.

Sanders best year was this past year and the only one he played most every game, save d his best for last I guess...not terrible for a 3rd round pick to be honest, but those numbers can be replaced. I'm not ready to say Wheaton will be the guy to replace them, but the people who know his game feel confident he can.

IMHO cotchery should have been signed, vets min, and the redzone threat he was for us, why wouldnt you bring that back, also reliable on 3rd downs............sanders meehhh .........get healthy.........nothing special for a #2........theres talent there but, he hasnt really shown it

From what I'm seeing, there is strong interest in keeping Cotchery, but he has other options...most recently visited CAR, but to date has not signed. It might take more than vet min, but I agree it would be nice to have him back...Ben had chemistry with him that he didn't have with Wheaton LY.

If you are Jericho why would you accept the vet min?

I'm starting to think that Cotchery knew that PIT was going to draft a WR with one of their top 2 picks in the draft, which would have made it questionable if Cotchery would see the field that much.

Now that they lost Cotchery, I'm thinking WR is at the top of the 1st round list. It will either be WR or CB IMO. Maybe even DE, but not likely in the 1st.

Both Cotchery and Sanders are replaceable. Cotchery as soon as the Panthers came calling you knew he was gone since he will get a huge pay raise and will start.

Sanders was gone I don't think the Steelers wanted him back but I am not sure Wheaton and a rookie will scare that many opponents. Brown probably will be in a ton of double coverage this season.

That's what worries me the most about this transition. Miller will probably have a big year if this is the case. They need Wheaton to step up big.

Share the same thought...a big play WR early like an Evans would change that I think. Even a 2nd rd guy this yr., I'd like the Vandy kid, Matthews... As a complete pkg...with Bell/Miller, Ben has all the bases covered.
