Two games this week with Christmas stuffed in between.

12/22 vs VMI @ 7pmEST (online)

12/27 vs Presbyterian @ 7pmEST (online)

These are the last two small schools on the schedule. Everything afterward (WVU, ACC schools) we'll be the underdog. And given some recent games, you might say we could be the underdog against these two schools. Because one definitive thing I've seen watching games this year is you really have no idea what you're going to get from the team. You could look at VMI and Pres as wins but we could just as easily lose both or split. If you can look past wins and losses though, there are some positives. There are stretches every game where we'll play some really good ball and you can see the foundation and direction of the program. Record and scores may not show it, but we're moving forward.

Remember when I said in the OP that the team shows flashes? Well the first half was one. The second half isn't. VMI has cut the lead down to 13 and made this a game again.

Yeah. We've gotten a little sloppy and they've actually started making some shots. Luckily the lead has held around about 15 for a while.

Down to 9 with 2 minutes left. This is getting ridiculous, even for this team

For the first time in forever, we actually made our FTs to keep the lead once VMI cut it to 9. Final score: VT 87, VMI 74. Despite a couple of dazes in the 2nd half where VMI cut the lead, it was a very solid team game for us. Balanced scoring all around that included Hudson's best game so far. He's improved quite a bit the last couple of games as has Shane Henry, who looks like he's finally earned Buzz's trust and is getting solid playing time. The last couple of games, Henry has been a monster going for blocks and boards.

I'm not happy with the lead getting axe murdered like that but at least the Hokies made their FT down the stretch to pull out the win.

Up 45-32 at the half. Gone about as expected so far. Highlights so far have been Hudson has continued to play very well as he has in the couple of games and we're red hot from the FT line. Yep, we're making FTs! 90% so far.

Lead up to 20 now with roughly 7 minutes left. Balanced effort so far with lots of guys in double figures.

And everything goes as expected, Hokies win 87-65. JVZ, Bibbs, Hill, Smith, and Hudson all in double figures. We shot 70% from the FT line too :yahoo:
