If it's any consolation jeffro, I had a buddy of mine at the game sending me pics of the place, and I wish we had an arena half as cool as JPJ

True. It's a pretty looking building. Also a huge home court advantage.

I'm not sure how this thread got derailed and got talking about football again...

But I love it.

Also, is it me or does Cavman look like some strange mix of Hispanic and Asian. Like he's Mexicasian or Asican. Which is fine and all.... but the term Cavalier comes from royalist punks who sided with the English crown prior to and through the rev war. They were decidedly and unmistakably honky. Not a big deal, but it just makes Cavman stand out even more as a lame and misguided attempt at a real mascot.

To a certain degree VT-to-UVA can be compared to Alabama-to-Auburn

Tech has been much more dominant over UVA than Alabama has been over Auburn. Historically, Tech leads the series 51-37-5, going 12-3 over the last 15 games with a current winning streak of 8 straight wins.

Surprisingly, Auburn has won 7 out of the last 10 meetings with Alabama, while Alabama has won 3 out of the last 4. Overall, Alabama leads the series 41-34-1.

Not to mention that people outside of the state involved actually care about the Iron Bowl. The same cannot be said of the Commonwealth Cup.

I still put the OSU-Mich rivalry in 1st. The 10 year war puts it up there.

Nice basketball win

That basketball victory was sweet in more ways than one. It was nice to finally stop the ACC "losing a close one" slide, and win a close one for a change.

Still, there were way too many turnovers and preventable mistakes. That three-pointer by Hudson at the end was a nice reward for watching that game!

Go Hokies!

All in all it was an ugly game. UVA couldn't hit the broad side of a barn last night. We were shooting 50% at some point and we still only had 30-something points because of our own turnovers. Our football O almost scored more than our basketball O.

Not good. We're going to continue to struggle to win games if we can't score consistently or find some offensive rhythm.

Which is to say, we're going to continue to struggle to win games. BUT, 1-4 in the ACC is better than 0-5. Hopefully we go on a streak.

Believe it or not turnovers are not the problem. We are actually number one in the ACC in turnover margin. Our problem is rebounding. We've been getting eaten up on the offensive boards. Lack of rebounding was the only reason UVA was in the game last night.

That might be true... but last night, at several key moments of the game, we had some inexcusable turnovers that cost us chances, wasted opportunities to swing the big Mo in our favor and take control of the game.

Does a steal count as a turnover? We had two "giveaways" (if they aren't counted) that were big.

We really REALLY haven't made the Club 216 larceny thing a big issue. The troll side of me is very disappointed.

You're right. The bigger the dreams the Hoos have the sweeter they are to crush on the field. :finger:

So, let me get this straight; You go from saying that UVa fans only want to talk about basketball these days, insinuating that you don't want to talk ab the pathetic VT basketball team, to now saying that VT might beat UVa? Sooutunds like you are the one that doesn't know what he wants to talk about.

I love this graphic, but I think "rather be at a wine tasting" is a constant line above everything else.

I'm sure there are some hokies that would say the same thing; I mean ya'll do have your own wine and all....
