Have to admit - this one looked like Avatar the sequel, and considering I didn't even go see the first one...well, yeah. Just don't have as much interest in a CGI love fest like I used to (thanks transformers).

You missed out on Avatar in the theaters. I saw that on 3D-IMAX. Wow. The story sucked, but the visuals MORE than made for it.

Heard a bunch of people comparing this to Avatar, several in this thread alone. The difference is, I don't know what Avatar spent to film the movie, but they must have spent that much again advertising it. Months ahead of time you couldn't avoid the hype if you had tried. This movie? First I heard of it was a week or two ago, and all I know about it is some advanced planet and alien empire thingy. It's like the spent $50,000 on a couple b list actor (same as Avatar i guess), another $10,000 for some shitty writing, terrible dialogue even cherry picking the best for the commercials, and a shitty plot (actually, again same as Avatar), dropped $200,000,000 on some cool ass, top of the line spevial effects and CGI (ok i suddenly get all the avstar comparisons) but then decided that was going to be good enough and didn't bother spending an advertising budget.

Let's see. Don't like Leon the Professional (2/5 stars). Don't like Lucy (1.5/5 stars) at all. And while I only saw the original trilogy, I am no fan of Star Wars.

I'll wait for a Tuesday night in 2018 when I see this movie for free on HBO and I have some extra Vicodin's to spare.

That's the same rating at the fourth star wars film. Might as well start watching the 4 new ones instead of wasting your time on this movie.

Directed by Luc Besson, the director of Leon: The Professional (1994), The Fifth Element (1997), and Lucy (2014), based on the long-running French science-fiction comic book series that was an inspiration for Star Wars:

I liked the other movies this guy did but this doesn't look that good . The 5th Element was hilarious.

Avatar. Most overrated sci-fi movie evah. In 3D-IMAX didn't help much either
I stand behind my opinion that it should have won Best Pic. Again, the movie itself (the story) was meh at best. But the whole package was jaw-dropping. I have no desire to watch it again when it is on tv, though. It HAS to be 3D and IMAX. 2D on a tv just amplifies the fact that the story blows.

Oh it definitely impressive visually but like you said, the story was beyond predictable. Boring characters. etc. It was good as a result but I've never watched it again. Unlike Rogue One or the Force Awakens which I liked a lot better than Avatar.

Rogue One and Force Awakens were definitely both better than Ferngully 3D but I'm not sure we'll look back at them in 10 years and think they were good movies.

Rogue One's action scenes are stellar but the first half of that movie is a real slog, imo.

Maybe. I liked the characters a lot better in Rogue1 than in Avatar.. Over time?

I think they'll be well regarded in the Stars Wars Universe unlike Star Wars 1-3

Totally. The characters in Rogue 1 were great for the most part. The script could have been (a lot) better but the last half an hour or so made it all worthwhile.

Yeah.. Loved the Droid with the droll sense of humor.

I liked the characters a lot and thought killing them off in the end (even though it made sense) was a huge disappointment..

I wanted to see more of them.

I totally agree. I think they had the start of a trilogy there which is really peculiar because they keep rehashing the same ideas in Star Wars. They come up with some really solid characters only to completely off them to merge the movie with the old ones.

Yep, yep.. I liked the Force Awakens even though the storyline seems pretty clear (and rehashed to some).

The Next Jedi instead of the Last Jedi?? Rey will be an interesting hero imo and I'd like to see how Luke handles being the next OBI-Wan so I'm all in.

But the characters from Rogue 1 had some real legs and they offed them. *grumble*

I don't know, bro. She's one of those chicks that's super model HOT even when she wakes up in a soup kitchen, strung out on white horse.

She looks like that chick that talked her boyfriend into killing himself.
