Oh Jeez guys, it was a joke. Relax. Good lord this board sometimes...
Again, he won't win a major with that mentality.Again, he won the FedEx Cup...
They all hate the place.
These guys want cookie cutter courses that are just like every other course and the second they see something out of the ordinary they freak out. You know what that makes for? Boring Sundays because everybody is going to stick their shots down the stretch on receptive fairways and greens.
You know why this course got the bid?
1. They want to get something going in this area because golf is actually big up here
2. They wanted a different looking course that's actually a real challenge so there isn't yet another major where the winner is 10+ under and basically coasts to the championship
3. They like the concept of the surface because it's more eco-friendly and you're going to start seeing more and more of it. Believe it or not, local communities are going to start to balk at all the water it takes to water the 200+ acre lawns so the pros don't bitch
4. It's a public course
The problem was the greens weren't put together well and they couldn't shut down the course to fix them because Pierce County spent a ton of money on this and didn't want to lose the greens fees, which is very understandable. Some of the greens are fine, some of them obviously aren't. Pebble Beach has been ragged on a few times when their greens weren't in good shape for big tournaments.
Like I've said, all the players have made their point. Now the guys who everybody knows are huge jackasses are just going and going because that's what they like to do.
To hell with ripping the course.
I'm gonna rip the coverage: it sucks.
A long laundry list of failures by the Fox crew. I know this is new to them, but come on...
Again, he won't win a major with that mentality.
He's in a career where he'll get paid millions to swat at a little ball. Everybody is on the same playing field at every event. He didn't do well because he can't play the course as well as others. That's it.
Anything else anybody says is nothing more than defending prima donna crybaby behavior.
List all of them
List all of them
is it necessary? They have gotten better as the tourney goes on, but still.
bad camera angles
not sticking with shots
camera losing the ball midflight
too many putts, not enough shots
first two days-more time spent watching talking heads instead of the golf
incorrectly identifying players
saying hole is so many yards, while at same time showing graphic listing it as much longer/shorter
not identifying hole
bad/absent scoring graphics
etc
just a bunch of stuff showing they are learning on the fly. But they've gotten better as it goes on. Today, the split screen for about five minutes following Jason Day around was, lazy.
Billy Horschel won the FedEx cup last year. And shot 3 under today. And still complained. And made a valid point. Flukey, bad greens, makes everyone an average putter.
I was talking to someone who mentioned that bad greens takes the advantage away from good putters. But, that perfect greens takes the advantage away from good ball strikers. So, even though the greens are rough this course just favors better ball strikers more than better putters and the good putters shouldn't complain because most of the time the good putters have the advantage over ball strikers. I just thought this was an interesting way to look at it and thought i'd post it.
He's full of those...Wow. Insightful response.
geez, well done, dude...I woulda just told him to go fuck himself.
