...is popping up on my computer every 10 seconds or so. Malwarebytes is reporting it. What to do?

On SportsHoopla? Can you get a screenshot? What website is it blocking? Chances are it's a hotlinked image from a bad neighborhood.

About a week or so ago I said malware would actually disconnect me from Sportshoopla and tell me I needed to update my Java.

But I couldn't log onto SportsHoopla without being disconnected every time and a got the pop up screen in question.

Guys get rid of the problem, first off run your anti virus program ( I'm assuming you have one) then run these problem solvers.

Rkill
TDSSKiller
HitmanPro
RogueKiller
AdwCleaner
Spybolt
SuperAntiSpyware
Browser Hijack Retaliator.

Then once you've cleaned things up use this in the future and you'll have no problems.

Sandboxie - Sandbox software for application isolation and secure Web browsing

It's a no brainer!

I actually had to delete/rebuild a user's profile recently that had that bad URL behavior. Nothing would unhook it!

One thing that a lot people miss after they run cleaning tools is the Winsock parameters may need reset. For XP there was a applet you could down load to do this, with Vista, 7 and 8 it can be done with two simple command prompts at an elevated level (i.e. Run Command box as Administrator)

netsh winsock reset catalog
netsh int ip reset reset.log

Reboot.
