They got more for Garcia than they gave up. They got two intriguing prospects that aren't far off from the majors.

Twins really screwed the pooch on Dozier. What about Ervin Santana?

Dozier's value has plummeted since last winter. Santana's value has declined since his torrid start. Both are signed through next season however, so the price for them was likely too high for any team to seriously consider a deal.

I really don't get the Beckham trade.
Orioles acquired INF Tim Beckham from the Rays for RHP Tobias Myers.
This deal is more about the future for the O's, who sit four games under .500 at the 2017 trade deadline. Beckham, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2008 MLB Draft, carries three more years of contractual control at age 27. He has batted .259/.314/.407 with a career-high 12 home runs and five stolen bases in 87 games this season. Look for him to get regular starts at shortstop in Baltimore while J.J. Hardy recovers from a fractured wrist:suds:

According to ESPN's Jerry Crasnick, the Rays are "open to offers" on Brad Miller and Tim Beckham.
Miller has been splitting time at second base and DH since coming off the disabled list but Tampa Bay's DH spot will soon be occupied by Lucas Duda, who was acquired in a trade with the Mets on Thursday. With Adeiny Hechavarria entrenched at shortstop, the Rays must now decide between Miller and Beckham at second base. Miller blasted a career-best 30 round-trippers last year but Beckham has been the superior player this year, hitting .266 with 12 homers compared to .202 with four homers for Miller. Crasnick said the Rays aren't "shopping" either player, but we could see them make a move if the right offer comes along.

I was referring to the Rays side of the trade. I should have been specific. Their SS alternatives don't inspire much confidence.
