I went with Munson primarily because I just dont trust the numbers from the super-early guys. The game was still learning itself back then. There was also a HUGE gap between the good players and the bottom-rung players. Only the stars could actually make a living playing baseball, so I would assume most mid-level guys gave up on the game just for financial reasons.




Besides, Schang never made an all-star team. Not once!! ([/sarcasm])

I was going to do this when I got home from work. Weird week for me as I am working days instead of night for one week, and I posted this thread before I left the house.

I will mention this later in the tourney as well, but it does need to be said...

I understand your criteria for inclusion, and I have no problems with it. The initial crop needs to be decided somehow.

But this tourney is missing one of the all-time top 5-10 catchers right now who will likely be up there with Bench and Berra when all is said and done.

Again, I do not argue his exclusion because you used a definitive value for inclusion. It just needs to be stated.

I know Molina had cracked the top 32 between the time I got the list and last Monday.

I agree Posey will be up there if he continues at the pace he is setting right now and does not get moved from Catcher like some of the greats before him.

And that's not meant to be any kind of shot at Posey at all. Posey's a great catcher. But the Giants would be wise to preserve his health and bat, especially when they have a potential stud in Susac.

It is happening now. Or at least as long as our entire starting OF is either on the DL, or SHOULD be on the DL.

Not sure he can't bring more back in a trade, though...
