Seriously, this game was so damn good. One of the only regular season games that was so overhyped and actually delivered 10 fold. Probably one of the only times Notre Dame haters actually rooted for their side.

The surprise green and gold jerseys. Was ND "back" or were they pretenders like they showed against MSU? Was Charlie Weiss a for real offensive genius? 4th and 9. Notre Dame won, then they didn't win. Questions of if anyone would ever beat a Pete Carroll USC team again.

I like this game a lot. Tommy Z went to my high school, and this was his finest hour. It still wasn't as good as the MSU-Wisconsin game. Both games were instant classics before their endings, but the Russell Wilson heroics + strip fumble to MSU + Hail Mary was greater than the Bush Push ending.

Both are definite top ten games. The only other regular season games that belong are 1998 MSU-Ohio State and 2008 Texas Tech-Texas. Maybe Michigan-Appalachian State as well, but like most people, I only saw the ending.

Meh. Not a big fan of Stanford-Oklahoma State. If we are picking games which are total defensive collapses, both UM-ND and TCU-Baylor were better games that year. And I'm fully convinced the Wisconsin-Oregon game I went to was a much more exciting, better played game.

Auburn-Oregon was an ugly game. Cam was missing open receivers left and right. Oregon's OL and QB weren't at the level they've been at since. The only good part was the Dyer run.

Without reading the rest of the thread I'm going to throw in the Iron Bowl from this year. Possibly LSU and Bama, 9-6 in '11.

This year's SEC title game was great. So was the Bama-Aub game. Two classics for sure. The Aggy Bama game was great this year too. Come to think of it, the SEC had some great games the last few years.

Oh yeah!!! Freaking awesome game...this was before Mo Clauret was trying to shoot up Youngstown on his binge. I wish I was a Frosh in college again too.

This one is right up there with Young vs. the guy who's parents had a free house...banged Kim K though. FWIW

Not many people watched it, but 42 point underdog Stanford took down the mighty USC Trojans 24-23 back in 2007 in the biggest upset (according to the point spread) in college football history.

This game gave Stanford, and its young head coach in Jim Harbaugh, some real steam to move forward in their recruiting efforts of rebuilding and creating the solid program that we know them to be in 2014. By 2010, Harbaugh had the Cardinal BCS bowling while USC was languishing in NCAA sanctions with 1st year head coach Lane Kiffin.

You are right, after the real one with tOSU and scUM others tried to copy too much. Biggest/Best rivalry in college and ranke 1-2, nothing more to say.

I agree, glad you pointed that out...yawn. Is it the best rivalry in the BCS era?..thus the title of the thread. And how can it be the best and be the best 1-2 as well?

Duke NC gives it rival in hoops.
