Romo, has played ,with maybe one team, that had championship caliber talent. And it was not his fault they didn't go all the way. Put Romo with last years Denver team ........90's COWBOYS etc. Things would be different.
Maybe, but I tend not to dwell on "if's".

And don't act like Romo has never choked. Up until lately, it was his defining characteristic.

He is a DALLAS COWBOY quarterback. There is an electron microscope on everything he does......

Romo once played in a game in San Fransisco when he had cracked ribs and a punctured lung.....He led his team back to a win. Most players would have been in a hospital.

He played vs. Washington with cracked transverse bones in his back. He could barely walk.....The COWBOYS won the game, made the playoffs.

That's all I need to know about Romo.

Without Romo the last ten years, the COWBOYS would be lucky to have won 5 games a year.

The DALLAS COWBOY'S team was 8 and 8

and then we could also discuss Jason Garrett being head coach and Jerry Jones being GM

I'm not disputing anything you are saying. But he has choked.

and so has every other QB who has ever played in the NFL. Tony Romo was branded by the fumbled snap in Seattle. And from that point on, he was judged by a different standard.......Nobody mentioned the COWBOY'S garbage defenses or horrible coaching and schemes......and their incomp GM

A quick Google search and I pulled up this.

Tony Romo's 10 most heartbreaking losses

Romo was a key contributor to a lot of them.

Tony Romo: The Choke Artist Myth And Elimination Vs. Playoff Hunt Games

Everything is back up by sources in this article.

  • Romo ranks sixth among active QBs for the most fourth-quarter comebacks - playing fewer games than anyone ahead of him on that list and those below him on the Top 10 list
  • Romo ranks ninth among active QBs for the most game winning drives - again, playing fewer games than those above him on the list
  • Romo has had phenomenal fourth-quarter QB ratings. This 2012 article states his career 102.1 QB rating in the fourth-quarter is the best among active QBs in the league, considerably surpassing the elite QBs like Aaron Rodgers, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, and Tom Brady. His 2012 rating (101.2) and 2013 rating (105.6) means he is likely still the best in the league in the fourth-quarter.
  • In games in Dec. and Jan. Romo has 63.3 completion % and 50 TD vs. 29 INT

I'm not disputing anything about Romo. I think he is a great QB. However @TheStarOne was speaking to Speith as a choker because of his tibacle at Augusta. I was simply making the point that Romo has done it also.

Thanks for the lesson.
My point is Romo led teams do not win when it matters. You appear to think otherwise.
Romo has to shoulder some of the blame for the teams failures but not as much as the media and ill informed fans think.

I get it that you are defending your guy, but in the article stating TR's history of his 10 biggest chokes 4 are in December and 2 are in January. His biggest blunders were during the most critical times of the season.
Yes, he puts up stellar stats often, but outside of Dallas he is known more as a choke artist than as a winner.

That may be true. It is my perception that he choke's in big games. It is just my opinion/perception.

Opinions are every where, this was discussed closely of the Cowboys board.
The Romo haters and Lovers were both on the far side of the argument. I took a few level headed to come in and point out how both sides were right and wrong.

pro football is way too complex to just say someone choked.......defense,offense,special teams, coaching, injuries, and (my personal favorite) GMs, all figure into a formula....

If a quarterback is constantly put into a position to be the "factor" in a win or loss, there are probably extenuating circumstances as to why the QB has to constantly be in that position.

example; In 2013 COWBOYS vs. Broncos

Romo had 506 yards passing.......5 TD passes..1 INT
Romo was 25 for 36
passer rating of 140
the COWBOYS rushed for 52 yards

The COWBOYS scored 48 points........

The COWBOYS lost..........51 to 48

I would like to know how many games, Romo has put the inadequate COWBOYS on his back, and made the TEAM better because he was QB.........50 times the number, he supposedly choked.

Put the 2014 COWBOY'S offense with the 2015 Denver Bronco's defense.......

There have been too many to count. I also remember the game where Romo put us in position to win and Garret iced his own kicker and we lost. :L TBH i never have confidence our defense will close out a game for a win but I do have confidence Romo will put us in a position to win.

I'm fairly certain he doesn't see the final two years. When he signed the deal he was going to be due 40M for 2018 and 19 with no guaranteed money. The 9M guaranteed his final two years is from restructures. It was a huge 7 year contract but I don't think anyone ever thought he'd see the end of it.
