Oklahoma Sooners
Remind me who OU's QB will be this year and what makes you think he will be anything close to what Baker was last year.

It takes points to win the BigXII and Texass just doesn't have, the players.
I know OU's QB problems are not as bad as t.u.'s, but who are you Sooners counting on to run the offense this year? Also, what makes you think they are going to be able to keep the offense at the level it has been under Baker?
Right now, I don't see any proven talent at QB on the team.
Baker statistically was the Best CF QB, in history. There will be a drop off but not as bad as some might think.
Our next QB, steps into a great situation.
The Oline will be even better then last year.
Two great proven RB's, plus, 2 behind that have shown flashes of greatness.
2 game breaking proven WR's. And DeDe is the best blocking WR, I have ever seen at OU. Plus the best true freshman WR I've seen at OU.
TE will see a small dropoff but not that much, Cal is a baller
The only position that worries me is Fullback
We have always had good to great QB and RB's the last 2 decades. Murray and Austin have studied under one of the best offensive minds for 2 years. Look what that did for Baker? Murray arm has become stronger and Kendal knows the offense as well as Baker.
OK. If you say so.
I know it was 2 years ago, but Kyler Murray didn't show me anything with his arm or with his ability to read a defense. He was a 1 read and run QB. Maybe he has learned a little something since then.
Guess we will all find out in a few months.
That is a little bit disingenuous right there. Mayfield was a pretty damned good freshman QB.They were both true freshman, it's hard to get use to the speed
Texas Tech said the same thing about Baker Mayfield. One year with Riley and he's running one of the best offenses in the country. Baker step into about the same situation as this years QB. Good Oline, Great RB's and a future Belitikof WR.
I don't know if we have a Belitinkof WR, but we have a better Oline then Baker 1st year. RB are just as good but different and better depth at WR, then Baker 1st year at OU.
Whoever takes over at QB, has all of the parts to be good or great. It's almost a perfect situation!

IIRC, a youngster named Mahomes showed up at Tech and changed the QB dynamics significantly. 2 of the 3 (Mayfield, Webb, Mahomes) weren't going to be happy in that situation. (Tech also had a kid named Stidham committ later but lost him partly because Mahomes was still there. The other part was because of the Briles connection to Stephenville.)
That said, Coach GQ really screwed up in handling the Mayfield, Webb, Mahomes situation...especially being a dick about transferring. But again, they weren't all going to be happy no matter what he did.
Yep. Not enough footballs to go around. And it may have been four with one yet to be college eligible. We'll see if Stidham gets drafted but I'll bet he does.Just sick. Tech had 3 QBs on campus and they were all drafted.

Stidham decided he didn't want to wait behind Mahomes IMHO. I think Mahomes being at Tech had more to do with him decomitting from Tech and heading to Waco than the Briles connection. At least that is what some of the Stephenville folks seem to believe.
That isn't what happened. Stidham left his house and moved in with another family, but it was just a coincidence that they were personal friends of Art Briles
Phil Steele releases college football preseason Top 25
10. TEXAS
Steele: "When I talked to head coach Tom Herman, he was very unhappy with the performance of 2017’s RBs and OL (Texas avg. 3.6 YPC). He has talent to work with and if he gets that turned around, he has a top-notch defense and two veteran QBs. Texas was much better than its 7-6 record last year and the Longhorns were in my ESPN Vegas Top 25 power ratings all year long. The Horns’ toughest road games are Kansas State, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State and they are my No. 2 surprise team (behind Florida).”
247Sports take: We like Texas, too, and are picking the Longhorns to finish no worse than second in the Big 12 this season.
Steele's taking a flyer on some of these IMO. BC @ 23? TCU @ 20? I don't see those at all.Phil Steele releases college football preseason Top 25

I see a lot of flaws in Steele's picks .. including no Iowa St. You Big 12 guys can say this and say that but ISU was no fluke last season. Campbell has those kids believing in themselves.Steele's taking a flyer on some of these IMO. BC @ 23? TCU @ 20? I don't see those at all.
If those two finish that high I'll eat my crow.
I just think the whole Big 12 is going to be down this year. Outside of OU, I can't see any other team good and deep enough to get through the conference schedule with just a loss or two. OU might not either thanks to ole Mikey.I see a lot of flaws in Steele's picks .. including no Iowa St. You Big 12 guys can say this and say that but ISU was no fluke last season. I think the Big 12 is getting deeper tbh with the improvement of Bevo and ISU. They won't win the conference this year but those two programs will make that conference that much deeper ... and more difficult.I just think the whole Big 12 is going to be down this year. I think the rest of 'em will take turns knocking each other off. I'm guessing ISU will be about like K-State, Okie Lite, Texas, TCU, and West Virginia. I wouldn't be surprised it all of that group finished conference at something like 6-3 or 5-4. If one of 'em avoids injuries and gets some breaks, maybe they'll be better than that. I just don't see it.
