Well, this changes everything...

24Seven is right, South Carolina now lays claim to 3 Unassociated Press National Titles, and also the following:

Best Dressed, 1927, 38, 64 and 85
Most Likely to Succeed 1912-1917 and 1919-1923 (no award in 1918 due to WWI)
The People's Champion
Best Dancer 2004, 2006, and 2011
Most School Spirit 1894-2013
And for lip synch, a 29.

Do you smell what the Cock is cooking?

Yes, they have. If by they, you mean not the NCAA. I'm not even sure what we're arguing about, but I'm assuming we are cause of your condescending tone. FBS football does not have an NCAA event to determine an NC as it does in all other sports, so they don't count a school's number of football championships in with their total championships. I'd call that not recognizing them.

Listed below are the universities with the most NCAA Division I-sanctioned team championships as of May 28, 2013.[1] Excluded from this list are all national championships earned outside the scope of NCAA competition, including Division I FBS football titles

What did you respond to? It was my comment that The NCAA has 8 pages dedicated to the BCS in their record book. This is a fact. Linking a page that is unrelated doesn't change that.

As for "recognition", if you're playing the you say "potato", I say "potahto" game here, then grow up. 8 pages is a lot of recognition. If it doesn't fit your definition of recognition, say that, don't go off on a tangent.

Is this guy serious? Sir, are you serious?

Course ya aren't. No one is this dumb, you're trolling.

I want Texas to claim the 2008, 2001 and 1984 NCs now.

Cmon AU, don't stoop down to Aggy's level. Let's just laugh at Aggy for claiming phantom titles from 90 years ago; it's better that way.

I'm with you but this is probably going to happen I even thought about going ahead and eating the bullet early and starting the thread myself but held off in the hope that common sense would prevail.

I put 100% of this on Jay Jacobs who absolutely is inept and can't be fired soon enough for me.

You really don't because then you can't make fun of the other schools that do it and that takes a lot of the fun away.

The first sentence was directed towards you. The second was not.

Ahh thanks for clarifying. And I agree with you, not in favor of claiming something 50 or 60 years later after the fact. I'm only 23 so I've grew up with Bama at 12 NCs and just recently the 3 we've won so I have no idea if Bama has gone back and claimed something that they previously did not.

My biggest gripe with this is how it diminishes the significance of the '10 title. That title was so special partly because of that gap. It was 50 years since the last one, Auburn had been screwed multiple times due to losing the popularity contest, and to finally win another one was a huge relief. It was pounded into people that it had been 50 years. To go back and somehow claim, oh no, we really won 2,3 or even 4 titles in between '57 and '10 is cheapening.

I wish Bama would burn the 1941 banner and that alone would eliminate 90% of grief they catch for claiming the championships. All the other ones were AP,UPI or BCS along with legitimate(at the time) associations naming them. Hard to argue against the pre-polls (1936) when those teams were undefeated, traveled across country and beat top ranked west coast powerhouses,(at the time), in the biggest bowl game there was! (Rose)

Frankly, 41 was most legit them some of the others because it was not retroactive. However, the resume is what people look at and it was after the AP poll, which some people mistakenly think was the start of the "championships".

Bahah :pound:

Did anyone check out the comments in that article?

After reading the article not sure what the Barners will do, but seriously? :L All those years of giving Bama grief for claiming titles for 10-0 teams and Rose Bowl wins and now they're going to claim 8-0-1 type years from the early 1900's? And claiming titles IN The Poll Era that wasn't awarded by the recognized polls! Yea, the exact same thing! :laugh3:
