according to saban, tua had a set-back with his hand. tua may be done for the rest of spring. saban said the important thing is to make sure he is ready to go in the fall
Our OL was worse than I thought it was going to be and/or our DL was much better than I thought it would be. But OL's are always kind of shitty this time of the year until the players get time together to gel. Still, expected better.
1st string secondary seemed to be ok for the most part, but it was hard to tell much because the pass rush was so heavy. It's those longer plays when coverage develops and QB's pick us apart and I didn't see much of that. Seems like we have a little bit of depth with the DL too. Not 2015 levels, but not bad.
Our 2nd string secondary is ass right now. We do not have a ton of depth.
Hurts was obviously not very impressive. I know he wasn't getting much time, but still didn't seem to be reading much. He's still got his legs and made a lot of plays that way, but I think his dad is probably wishing he had shut the fuck up right about now. OL wasn't giving him much time, but it looked like more of the same overall. I hope he at least sticks around to the end of the year and does a grad transfer, but he still has a redshirt so there's a chance he won't finish out the year. The guy seems like an awesome person, sucks he can get reading the defenses and seeing things better down.
Mac reminds me of AJ. But our 2nd string secondary wasn't very good, so he got some free yards. Still he stepped into the pocket and made throws over the middle.
Kicker gave me hope. Would have been nice if he was a tad more accurate from 40+, but even the ones he missed seemed to be close. No huge shanks and I think he probably hits that FG in the national championship for the win.
Overall I really expected to see more offense. I thought our defense was going to be young and it would be one of those years we rely a little more on the offense. I would have liked to see Tua out there with the 1st team to see how he handled the pass rush.
i was expecting more from jalen hurts. not great, just better. throw out the high pressure plays and look at what he done. same old, same old. look at the primary wr then run. i too, think that jalen is a high character young man whose dad dropped tremendous pressure on. pressure that seems to be crushing him rather than bringing out the best. i actually feel kind of sorry for the kid.
i as impressed by both mac jones and brian robinson. they both played very good yesterday. feeling a lot better now, should jalen transfer.
sadly, we still have no clue how the starting defensive secondary looks, they were not tested yesterday.
Just wanted to say sorry I've been gone so long. Life has thrown some curveballs at me lately. I honestly didn't follow college football or Alabama closely at all last year, not to the extent that I used to because of that. Thanks 4D20 for rejuvenating my yearly seasonal thread. I thought to myself the other day, "I wonder who did the new info thread for the upcoming season?" It's nice to be back, and Roll Tide Roll!!!
