Liked that catch from Tolbert. He looks like he's got the physical attributes to be a pretty good receiver.

A nice diversion on the afternoon.

Good thoughts
Foltz, I already knew he was a good punter when he was a freshman, and he has only gotten better.
T Newby never fumbled.
DPE is still going to be very scary for opposing teams.
The offense looked a lot like last year's offense.

bad thoughts
Shocked by the defense not being dominant.
Disappointed in the QB play, except Darlington.
Jamal Turner still showed some frustration with the QBs, but not Darlington.
That one play where Westerkamp goes in motion and ALMOST gets the snap, that has fumble written all over it during a game.

unknown thoughts
O line, no idea.
Who the heck is the running back going to be?
Drew Brown? no idea but it looks like it is his job to lose.

Defense ran all base sets, no blitzes or confusing coverages. Not surprising they didn't look overly dominant.

I saw two completely different offenses depending on who the QB was. I don't care much for that if it's carried into fall. I think today was an experiment for what to open fall camp with. TA was running zone read but the announcers were talking about how heavy pro it was. TA did say it was a totally different offense. I'm guessing he means terminology.

Been a long time since we've seen play action from under center. I like it a lot better than the pistol. Just looks cleaner and gives a MUCH better fake.

The misdirection stuff looked pretty sharp to me. Just need to keep practicing it so those fumbles don't happen. Riley'd been running that play for a long time at OSU.

Saw a lot of overthrown and/or wildly inaccurate deep balls today. Riley needs to know that that wind isn't going to magically disappear this fall.

I saw some high-low route combos that I don't know if I remember seeing last year. That's a pro style. Lots of drag routes trying to hit a guy over the middle.

You NEVER saw the delay handoff up the middle in Beck's scheme. That's right out of the New York Giants playbook... And almost every other pro style offense.

The designed QB keep and zone read are still in the play book, which is a relief.

They like to roll the QB out quite a bit too.

Oregon State actually had a dual threat by the name of Lyle Moevao who won a lot of games for them in '08 including beating #1 USC.

Coincidentally, Nebraska lost a head to head recruiting battle for him.

The thing that Darlington did much better than all of the other QB's out there today was awareness in the pocket. That guy has eyes in the back of his head and made a lot of quick moves to extend plays.

He made a lot of throws on the run and looked good doing it.

There were 30mph gusts today as well, which we need to take into account. All I know for certain is AJ Bush has a long way to go. Lobbing 7 yard passes up for grabs isn't gonna cut it, my man.

Darlington looked good. It's TA's team though. You could tell when they interviewed him.

He didn't look timid about it today though.

Doesnt mean he wont die after a good pop

Man he looked good tho

If the risk for that were high, I doubt he'd be playing.

If Armstrong keeps his job they'll run primarily zone read. Darlington and it's primarily pro style. JMO
