:frown:

Can't say I blame him though...........

My friend had a $250,000 offer from the Twins right out of High School and he turned it down to come play for Nebraska............and now he's an assistant coach at some Juco school

But that was because the players weren't getting developed down there.

Just think, this recruit could have come to NU and developed with the HC.

And the rumor is tht the Kent St coach is goin to be the head guy at Michigan next year. He was a guy that was rumored for about half a second last year for the Nebraska job. That would have been better than what we have.

Coach Anderson was ripped for recruiting top talent that would just sign in the draft and then left Nebraska thin of talent. Will Erstad get the same ripping?

lol

Erstad needs a little more time. One average year is difficult to make assessments off of.

Bubba Starling is expected to officially start his professional baseball playing career with Burlington (N.C.) in the Appalachian League, along with many of the high school players Kansas City selected in the 2011 draft.

Starling, the former Nebraska quarterback recruit who chose baseball after being picked fifth overall last year and signing for $7.5 million, has been among the players Kansas City has kept in extended spring training the past two months.

Statistics from the games played in extended aren't made public, but the reports on Starling coming out of Arizona are glowing.

"Awesome," said Rusty Kuntz, Kansas City's minor league outfield, bunting and baserunning coach. "That's what a No. 1 pick should look like."

The Appalachian League is a short-season rookie league scheduled to start its season June 19. The average age of players who appeared for the Burlington Royals last season was 21, while the league's average age was 20.5. Starling turns 20 in August.

Kansas City is one of several organizations that fields three short-season teams - most others have two. Typically, the older, more experienced prospects head to Kansas City's rookie-level Pioneer League affiliate in Idaho Falls. Still others stay in Arizona and play in the rookie-level Arizona League.

The teams are stocked with players currently in extended spring training as well as those who sign quickly after being selected in the 2012 draft.

Kansas City has a mini-camp scheduled for next week to make final short-season roster determinations, but farm director Scott Sharp told the Kansas City Star that Starling would be assigned to Burlington.

Minor league rosters are often in flux because of injuries and performance-based promotions or demotions.

Burlington's manager is Tommy Shields, who played professionally for nine seasons and played briefly in two seasons in the majors.
Starling, relatively inexperienced as an amateur player from Gardner, Kan., is fine-tuning his natural abilities.

"The power, the bat, jumps at you," said Kuntz, also a special assistant to Kansas City General Manager Dayton Moore. "Then the speed, a guy that size (6-foot-4, 215 pounds) being able to move the way he does - he's a legitimate center fielder. The arm plays. The defense is there: the reads, the routes, the depth perception. His baserunning is well ahead of his age.

"All those ingredients are there. He hasn't played all that much baseball, but the instincts and all the things you look for are terrific. And ... coachability, he's got that, too."

Nebraska had a few more players drafted.

Another recruit, Matt Strahm, got picked in the 21st round by the Royals

Travis Huber was selected in the 23rd round by the Twins

Kale Kiser was selected by the White Sox in the 23rd round

Richard Stock was also picked in the 23rd round by the Indians

Chad Christensen was selected in the 35th round by the Marlins

Kale Kiser is the only senior out of that group

On a positive note, Khiry Cooper was selected in the 25th round by Boston. He didn't play this year due to an injury and is transferring to Tulsa. That is awesome that he is getting another chance to play the sport that he loves the most. He has not decided if he is still going to play football one more year.

Yeah it was funny. That Blake dude takes it way too seriously but he is an Iowa St fan so isn't very bright.
